Hilary Duff is sharing some hilarious behind-the-scenes details. In a new appearance on the podcast “Call Her Daddy,” Duff is opening up about one of the most storied episodes of her teen career: her rivalry with fellow Disney star Lindsay Lohan.
In her conversation with Alex Cooper, Duff opened up about one of the most discussed incidents between the Lohan and Duff feud: the fact that Duff attended the “Freaky Friday” premiere with Lohan’s co-star, Chad Michael Murray.
After she was asked if she crashed the premiere, Duff started laughing. “I think absolutely yes. I was a teenager.”
She explained that she didn’t want to add fuel to the fire, but that she was actually invited to it. “Chad Michael Murray invited me,” she said. “I don’t wanna start any more stuff, but, like, he was like, ‘You should come with me.’ And I was like, ‘Mhmm. Probably I should.’”
Murray starred in “Freaky Friday,” with Lohan, and in “A Cinderella Story,” with Duff. Both films were released within a year of each other.
Cooper then asked Duff if she was surprised that Lohan attended the premiere of her own film, “Cheaper by the Dozen,” which came out that same year.
“No,” said Duff. “I mean, that was, like, my childhood nemesis. I’m sure my publicist will be like, what the f— are you doing? But now it’s so many years later. Like, who cares? It does not matter.”
Duff made it clear that she and Lohan got over their childhood rivalry years ago. “Lindsay came up to me at a club once and was like, ‘Are we good?’ And I was like, ‘We’re good.’ She was like, ‘Let’s take a shot.’ I’m like, ‘Okay.’ It was amazing,” she said.
Duff addresses the viral ‘toxic mom group’ article
Duff also addressed her much-discussed beef with Ashley Tisdale, who published an article on The Cut about her breakup with her “toxic mom group,” which is rumored to be made up of Tisdale, Duff, Meghan Trainor, and Mandy Moore.
“I felt really sad. I honestly felt really sad. I was pretty taken aback and felt just sad,” said Duff.
“I have tons of different groups of mom friends because I have four kids, you know? So, I think I just was like, ‘Whoa.’ It sucks to read something that’s not true and it sucks on behalf of like six women and all of their lives,” she said.
Duff shared that the article came out around the time of her album’s release, leaving her feeling “used.” She recently released her sixth studio album, “Luck… or something,” marking her return to music after a decade.
