You’d be forgiven for forgetting about this couple, who flew so far under the radar that many didn’t even realise they were dating at all. Mila and Macaulay essentially grew up together, beginning their romance in 2002 and ending it after an eight-year run.
Although they kept a low profile, Mila did share a snippet of insight into their down-to-earth relationship with Parade in 2007. “We’re incredibly private, and I think we relish the privacy we do actually have and are able to sustain it,” the actress explained.

Mila later admitted after their 2011 breakup that dealing with her partner’s fame had grown increasingly difficult and taxing. “You couldn’t walk down the street with him,” she said in an interview with Howard Stern in 2016, adding that fans “just screamed when they saw him”.
“They didn’t know how to react. It wasn’t like a normal response to a celebrity. Fans responded in a very abnormal way to him.” Despite their breakup, Mila maintained that their time together had helped her grow as she chased her Hollywood dreams. “Being settled so young really helped,” she told Elle in 2012.
“You know, I wouldn’t take back anything in my life, not one thing. I think it all shaped me to be who I am today. There are things that people know about, and there are things that the press doesn’t know about, and everything that did occur 100 per cent shaped who I am. My ex-boyfriend, my family, my friends, everybody.”
