Gwyneth Paltrow is addressing speculation about her relationship with Meghan Markle. The actress, who recently opened up about the reason she made a drastic change in her diet, wants to put an end to rumors about an alleged feud after the pair shared a viral video together.
The Oscar winner clarified that while she has had a few encounters with the Duchess of Sussex, she doesn’t know her “super well,” and insists there’s no animosity between them. During a conversation on ‘The World’s First Podcast with Erin & Sara Foster,’ she responded to claims that she and Meghan were feuding.
“You know what I won’t be at this point in my life? Like, I won’t be a pawn in some drummed up, you know, triangulation of women feud in order for your f–ng clickbait,” she said. “Leave us out of it, leave us out of it. Like, don’t do that. I will not stand for that.”
The feud rumors intensified after comparisons were drawn between Meghan’s Netflix show, ‘With Love, Meghan,’ and Gwyneth’s lifestyle brand, Goop. But the actress was quick to shut down these speculations.
“I wish Meghan nothing but the best. Like, it’s so great what she’s doing. I’m proud of her. Every woman deserves to go into anything that they want to do,” she added.
The star has had a few encounters with Meghan, who also resides in Montecito. Gwyneth described the Duchess as “really lovely” but emphasized that they aren’t close. “She lives in Montecito so I’ve seen her, I’ve hung out with her a few times.”
She continued, “I don’t know her super well, but she seems really, really lovely.” In an earlier video, Gwyneth had also addressed the rumors. “I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever,” she said, showing her followers a glimpse of Meghan sitting beside her, eating a piece of pie while they filmed a kitchen segment. “Do you understand this?” she asked, revealing Meghan’s presence as she shrugged and smiled.
Gwyneth also shared her belief that there is more than enough room for everyone to succeed. “I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” she explained in a Vanity Fair interview, adding that she has always stood up for women.
Despite not watching her Netflix series, ‘With Love, Meghan,’ she expressed support, saying, “I have a strong instinct to stand up for them when there’s noise about certain women in the culture.”
