Diego Luna had an emotional moment with Javier Bardem during a recent conversation as part of their interview with Variety. The Mexican actor credited Bardem for being a pivotal inspiration in his early career, highlighting how his work opened his eyes to new possibilities in cinema.
“When I was 12, when I was 13, I was doing theater and TV in Mexico, I started really young,” Diego recalled during the conversation. “And it was through your work that I realized that cinema was an option.”
He reflected on the limited opportunities available in Mexican film at the time, noting, “We had a very poor national production [in Mexico] at that moment and it was your work that inspired, suddenly, the idea in my head.”

He continued, “Interacting with droids and machines voiced by an actor through a speaker. [They’re] these wonderful creatures, [and so are the] people working behind the scenes to move them. It’s a kid’s dream. No green screens. It’s moviemaking.”
