Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer teased on Today on September 17, that they may or may not be back the following day.

During the show, country legend Kenny Chesney performed for the Citi Concert Series on the Rockefeller Plaza, and the co-hosts loved having him there.

Craig shared: “A very good morning to you on this Third Hour of Today. I’m Craig. Here’s Dylan. There’s Al. There you are.” Dylan added: “We are all where we need to be.”

Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin suddenly forgot what day it was because of Kenny Chesney

Craig announced: “You know who else is here? Kenny Chesney. What a fun morning it is. The country legend – he has put on just a fantastic show for our plaza crowd. Not done yet. Fear not.”

The journalist shared that there was more to come from the singer, explaining: “Fear not, ‘No Shoes Nation,’ he’s got one more song. He’s gonna come inside as well and catch up, and we’re gonna talk about his new music, his tour, and much more.”

Dylan: “[Speaking of] his new music – everybody out there is singing along and they’re such good songs.”

Kenny raised the energy so well during his visit to NBC, that it confused the co-hosts on what day of the week it was.

Al Roker joked: “We’ve been talking. It’s almost thrown us off because the vibe is Friday. It’s such a Friday vibe.”

Kenny has an upcoming album that will be released soon

Craig teased: “So if you don’t see us tomorrow, you know what happened.” Dylan chimed in: “Yes, we got confused.”

Kenny’s newest and 21st album called Silver Sands Marina, will be released on September 25 and the star expressed what was different about making this album compared to his last one.

He revealed: “Well you hope that the record that you put out is a reflection – is a mirror of where you are in your life. The thing that I love about [the record] – I was afforded the gift of time for this one. Usually when an artist has a record and they put it out and it does well, the label kind of wants another one, or the same one in a 12 or 18 month period.”

The singer explained that instead of rushing to make another successful album, he created it organically, as he lived his life to the fullest and explored other lanes.

Kenny added: “But I wasn’t on that treadmill. I was at The Sphere for two years. I wrote a book. I was doing stuff and so it took about three years to get this album where I wanted it and I was very thankful.”

The entertainer hopes that his newest project brings a message of “joy” for listeners, as he got candid about how he really feels performing onstage.

Kenny spoke about how important his fans are to him

He shared: “I think there’s a lot of emotions on this record that feel really alive and I’m very proud of that. It’s one thing that I try – when we’re up there on stage – sometimes I edit myself up to a fault because I’m constantly going ‘If I record this song, are they gonna care the way I think they’re gonna care?'”

Kenny concluded: “And like I said, sometimes it’s to a fault, but being up there on stage and seeing everybody out there, and seeing their eyes, and seeing how they react to a certain song – you can’t help but edit yourself like that. So it took me a minute to get this [album] there. When I did, it was joy. I think about the audience when I look at their faces every night when I’m out there because it’s a really special thing to see, I’ve learned.”
