Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and Durek Verrett have one year of marriage under their belt! The couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 31. The Princess, who is the daughter of King Harald V and Queen Sonja, commemorated their anniversary with photos from their special day in Geiranger.

Alongside her wedding pictures, the Norwegian royal penned, “Happy Paper Anniversary, my beloved husband @shamandurek Wow, it’s already 1 year since we got married. I am so blessed to have you in my life and to walk this path with you. We grow together, we laugh together, and you always see the best in me, reminding me of who I truly am and bringing out my authentic self.We balance one another, support one another, and love each other unconditionally. You embrace all of me and more. Your inner light shows me the way to evolve and gives me the courage to stand tall in the face of adversity. You lift me up, yet keep me grounded. Your light outshines anything I have ever known.”

The Princess, who has three daughters from her first marriage to Ari Behn, added, “What I treasure most is that you love my children as your own, and that you understand they come first—and love me even more for it. You are a brave, vulnerable, strong, wise, loving, and incredibly funny man.I love you, my darling, through time and space. In the end, love always wins. I bless everyday and am so so grateful for being your wife. 💗.”

The royal’s husband reacted to her heartfelt message, commenting on the post: “Happy anniversary my love. @iam_marthalouise Today I celebrate you, the woman who has transformed my life with grace, beauty, and a love that is endless. Every moment with you is a gift. I love your laughter that brightens even the heaviest day. I love your strength that inspires me to rise higher. I love the way your heart sees me completely and embraces every part of who I am.I love our prayers, our quiet nights, our adventures, and even the simple ordinary moments that become extraordinary because you are in them. You are my wife, my friend, my muse, my reason, my safe place, and my forever.”

I am grateful for every memory we have made together and excited for all the memories still waiting for us,” Durek continued. “Our love is not just romance. It is friendship. It is faith. It is trust. It is the foundation of the family we are building and the future we are creating. You are my heart, my blessing, my destiny. On this day and every day, I honor you. I cherish you. I celebrate you. I love you endlessly, fiercely, tenderly, and forever. Happy anniversary my darling.”

Durek and the Norwegian Princess, who got engaged in 2022, wed last year at the Hotel Union Geiranger in front of family and friends, including the bride’s three daughters — Maud Angelica Behn, Leah Isadora Behn and Emma Tallulah Behn — King Harald V, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, as well as Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, and Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands.

Following the ceremony, Princess Märtha Louise gushed, “Our love has triumphed against all odds and will last forever,” while Durek said, “Love transcends all things because love is the original energy that we all are on this planet. It triumphs everything.”
