Former Gogglebox star Amy Tapper revealed she lost eight stone after embarking on a health and fitness journey following her stint on the Channel 4 reality show that ended in 2018.
The 26-year-old TV personality has been documenting her diet and exercise routines on her social media platforms and recently shared that she had been taking weight loss medication in addition to living a healthier lifestyle.
She has been injecting herself with Mounjaro and has seen her weight drop from a size 26 to a size 18 in just 12 months. Amy has been incorporating exercise into her daily routine with the help of her personal trainer, Natasha Ram, who announced that the star had lost eight stone on Instagram.
Sharing a comparison video to her page, showing the star at her biggest and her current weight, Amy tagged Natasha in the post and added a caption that said: “Looking back so I never forget how far I’ve come. Eight stone, two pounds gone forever.”
The star, who rose to fame when her family appeared on the first ever series of Gogglebox, opened up about her weight loss during an interview on Good Morning Britain and credited the drug for helping her find “peace”.
Amy has spoken candidly about her weight loss journey in the past and revealed she had been dieting since she was 12 years old, but failed to lose weight throughout the decades.
She explained that she had been overweight since she was “about six or seven years old”, during her chat with the early morning breakfast show and revealed she had sought help from doctors who “couldn’t quite put their finger” on why she struggled to lose weight.
The Channel 4 star said she had some success with dieting in her early years, however she kept hitting the same roadblock, adding to her frustrations as she navigated her teenage years.
Amy explained that she would lose two to three stone through watching what she ate but would get to the “three stone mark” and see her weight stagnate.
After years of trying and failing to keep her weight at a healthy number, she contemplated solving her issue with surgery.
Amy revealed she struggled with the constant cycle of losing weight and gaining it again and that she was struggling to wake up in the morning as a result.
She decided against surgery but was seduced by the idea of an injectable weight loss tool instead, which she claimed changed everything.
Amy decided to embark on a programme of weight loss drugs, choosing Mounjaro.
She told hosts of the ITV morning show: “I think a lot of the way that people look at the injections is that it’s a quick fix, everything like that. And it is. It’s very quick.
“But it’s not fixing you forever. Because the minute you come off of it, my body’s just going to start doing exactly what it was doing before. Which means that, yeah.”
The star added: “I will be on it for life. I mean, obviously, we will look through it and we’ll see as we go along. We don’t know what can happen. But the plan is, I’m on the highest dose at the moment.”
In addition to her medication, Amy has dedicated herself to a strength training plan and signed up to a programme with a personal trainer.
She posts her workouts online and shares her routines with her followers, which include weight lifting, resistance bands, squats, lunges and other body-weighted exercise moves.
The star has also posted about being bullied for her weight and shared a message of encouragement for others in her position, posing in active wear. Her caption read: “I’ve heard ‘eat less, move more’ my whole life – usually as a dig. So I’m reclaiming it.
“My journey is personal. Emotional. Mine. This track is an anti-bullying anthem supporting the National Bullying Helpline. Here’s my clap back.”
Last month, Amy revealed she had reached a major milestone and shared her happy news with her followers, telling them she had finally shed eight stone.
Posting a video clip that showed her stepping onto the weighing scale, with the help of her trainer, she could be seen jumping for joy as the number appeared on the device below her.
Dancing around her living room, the star penned a note alongside the video that explained: “Words will never explain this moment… not only hitting the loss of 8 stone but going over it!!! So grateful and lucky to share and celebrate these moments with you @tashelite.fitness”
