Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham recently opened up on the status of his and Stevie Nicks’ current relationship after their longtime feud.

He revealed to E! News: “Stevie and I are talking all the time now, and so it’s really… that’s appropriate to our history.”

It turns out that during the journey of the duo working together on their upcoming documentary about their band, which will premiere on Apple TV in 2027, they were able to mend their problems.

He revealed: “I think the process of making that has been a very circular healing process for all of us.”

The musician added: “Because we had left things in 2019, maybe as far as I was concerned, not in a very good place for all the wrong reasons. No one was happy about it, and all of that has been healed and worked out.”

Stevie and Lindsey’s relationship

The pair met back in high school in Atherton, California and Stevie joined Lindsey’s band Fritz.

Once the band broke up, the two became a couple in 1972 and a year later, they put out their album Buckingham Nicks. The couple joined the band Feetwood Mac in 1974.

Stevie revealed to Uncut that she was unsure about their relationship, recalling: “If we hadn’t joined Fleetwood Mac, would Lindsey and I have carried on and made it? I was really tired of having no money and being a waitress. It’s very possible that I would have gone back to school and Lindsey would have gone back to San Francisco.”

The duo called it quits in 1976, put out solo albums and then reunited with the band to record music for its LP, Tango in the Night in 1987, but Lindsey made the decision to not go on tour.

In the documentary Fleetwood Mac: Don’t Stop, Stevie recalled: “When Lindsey said, ‘I’m not going,’ I think I got up and ran across the room and tried to strangle him. And then he chased me out of the house through Christine’s driveway, and we had a huge fight. That was that. He was done.”

Lindsey came back to the band in 1997, however, problems continued with Lindsey’s involvement because after the conclusion of their 2014-2015 tour, he requested that the band delay their next tour for three months so that he could work on his solo projects.

Lindsey ended up getting fired, and in response he sued the band for breach of fiduciary duty, oral contract and interference with prospective economic advantage, however everyone settled soon after.

He kept claiming to outlets such as the Los Angeles Times that it was Stevie who got him fired, but she has denied those allegations multiple times.

Stevie revealed to Rolling Stone in 2024: “The only time I’ve spoken to Lindsey was there, for about three minutes. I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could. You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”

In 2025, the pair followed each other on social media and put out a reissue of their Buckingham Nicks album.

Stevie revealed on the Song Exploder podcast that the duo had reconnected after mainintaining their distance for three years.
