The internet was set ablaze this week when a TikTok user filmed what appeared to be disgraced billionaire and convicted abuser Jeffrey Epstein driving down a highway in South Florida.
Jeffrey, who trafficked women and girls to elites for years throughout the ’90s and ’00s, died in 2019 inside his jail cell in Manhattan. His death was ruled a suicide, but conspiracy theorists believe he may still be alive and living a normal life.
A video posted by TikTok user amposey27 went mega viral after he filmed a man driving in Florida with similar facial features to Jeffrey. “Ummm…Epstein is alive. Epstein is alive!” he was heard saying, as the camera focused on the man driving the convertible in a navy polo tee and white backwards cap.
“Epstein out here in South Florida,” read the caption. TikTok users descended on the comment section to share their thoughts, with one writing: “I’m freaking out [please] tell me it’s AI,” while another added: “No, really, how can you explain this.”
Another said: “Can someone please tell me it’s fake,” while a fourth chimed in: “Actually looks like bro.” The man in the video later took to social media to debunk the idea that he was Jeffrey, and shared that he stood firmly against the late criminal’s heinous actions.
“Good morning everybody, this is Palm Beach Pete from Palm Beach, Florida,” he began. “I want to thank everybody for the positive comments I got from saying I’m not Jeffrey Epstein. I’m so not Jeffrey Epstein, I’m me being me.”
“[Epstein is] a very bad person, what he did, obviously, and he is dead. And I’m alive,” he clarified. In a second clip, Pete added: “Some dude randomly filmed me while I was driving on I-95, unbeknownst to me…And the next thing I know, I’m a viral sensation.”
“I’m just Palm Beach Pete…going to play some tennis today, going into town, have lunch,” he said. Palm Beach Pete, a former real estate executive, lived for several years in New York City and believes he crossed paths with Jeffrey and his family in the past, as he told The New York Post.
“I actually knew his brother because his brother used to have these two big dogs – these two standard poodles – and he used to walk them around the Garment District, and I said, ‘Wow, nice dogs,’ and we got friendly,” Pete recalled.
He shared that he would also see Jeffrey out and about at parties in NYC. “I don’t feel good about it – I don’t want to be associated with him. He was a monster, a terrible human being, and I have nothing to do with that,” Pete continued. “It’s kind of amusing that all this is going on because of how I look, but it’s not who I am, obviously, and he’s dead, and he was just a bad, bad human being.”
The public’s interest in Jeffrey was renewed in the wake of the release of some of The Epstein Files, a massive collection of documents detailing the activities of the abuser and those associated with him, including A-list celebrities and powerful politicians.
