Social media users vented their frustrations about seeing the dreaded “SOS” signal across multiple states, primarily on the East Coast. The company issued a public statement confirming the problem. What Caused the Verizon Network Outage?
It’s still unclear what caused the sudden Verizon outage. According to the company’s X account, a spokesperson for the company issued a statement, noting that they were “aware” of the service interruption.
“We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers,” the statement read. “Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience.”

When a Verizon customer sees the “SOS” signal on their phone, it usually means there is an issue connecting to a wireless network. However, each device should still be able to make 911 calls if the user connects to another carrier.
