‘It can affect people’s lives’

Christian Pulisic has made it clear that speculation about his love life has crossed a line, and he is not staying quiet about it. The U.S. Men’s National Team captain publicly shut down rumors linking him to actress Sydney Sweeney after claims circulated online suggesting the two were romantically involved.

The reports gained traction late last week, prompting the soccer star to respond directly on social media. “Please stop with the made up stories about my personal life,” Pulisic wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Need to hold sources accountable it can affect people’s lives.”

The message appeared alongside an image of Pulisic on the field with AC Milan, where he continues to shine during an impressive Serie A campaign. It was a pointed response to rumors that began spreading days earlier, fueled by gossip pages and unverified reports tying him to the ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Anyone But You’ actress following her recent breakup.

Pulisic did not stop there. Under an Instagram post that directly alleged he was dating Sweeney, he added a blunt comment aimed at shutting down the speculation entirely. “Fake news guys let’s stop with the silly rumor,” he wrote.

The unfounded reports appear to have originated on Dec. 25, when an Italian gossip outlet cited claims that first surfaced on the Instagram page Bomber’s DNA. While the story quickly picked up steam online, no credible confirmation ever emerged. Instead, the rumors ignored the very public relationships both Pulisic and Sweeney are currently in.

Pulisic, 27, has been dating professional golfer Alexa Melton since 2024. Their relationship became public last summer when Melton shared photos of the couple vacationing together in Turks and Caicos. She captioned the post simply, “Soft launch,” a nod to making their romance Instagram official without fanfare.

On the field, the Milan midfielder has remained focused. The same weekend he addressed the rumors, Pulisic scored the opening goal in AC Milan’s 3-0 win over Hellas Verona, marking his 10th goal of the season. His performance helped propel Milan into the top tier of the Serie A standings, underscoring that the off-field chatter has done little to distract him.

Meanwhile, Sweeney’s own dating life has been well documented in recent months. The 28-year-old actress has been linked to music executive Scooter Braun since early September, following her March split from former fiancé Jonathan Davino after nearly seven years together.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Sweeney and Braun’s relationship is far from casual. “Scooter and Sydney are going strong and things between them are great,” a source told People earlier this month. “They’re in a committed relationship and things are serious.”

The couple has been spotted together frequently throughout the fall and into the holiday season. In November, they were photographed sharing a kiss while sitting on a rock in New York City’s Central Park. Weeks earlier, they were seen holding hands during a night out in Los Angeles, and more recently, they appeared together at the Los Angeles premiere of Sweeney’s film ‘The Housemaid.’

According to another source, the pair connected naturally early on and quickly found common ground. After they were first spotted holding hands in late September, an insider noted that the two “have a lot in common and neither one of them cares about what others think.”

Sweeney’s inner circle has reportedly embraced the relationship. Her friends and family are said to be “really happy about this relationship,” with one source adding that “it’s such a relief to see her genuinely happy.”

Braun’s friends share a similar sentiment. Following his 2022 divorce from Yael Cohen, with whom he shares three children, those close to the music manager have noticed a change. “They say it’s been a long time since they’ve seen him this settled in a relationship, and they can tell how much he admires her,” an insider previously said. “He thinks she’s smart, kind, and fun, and she appreciates how he really sees her for who she is beyond all the noise.”

For now, Pulisic appears content focusing on his performance with AC Milan and his relationship with Melton, while Sweeney continues to balance a busy film schedule alongside a serious romance of her own.
