One of the most talked about celebrity dramas in the last few years was between Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter. The pair were catapulted to fame with their incredible talent and hit songs, but at the start of their careers, many couldn’t get enough of the rumored feud between the two musicians.

Sabrina Carpenter was cast as the villain in a drama she never signed up for. But now she is only known for her authentic sound and incredible success. “I don’t think about it, ever,” She told Rolling Stone in her new interview when asked about the drama.

Back in 2021, the world was obsessed with Olivia Rodrigo’s record-breaking single ‘Drivers License,’ which painted a portrait of teenage heartbreak, referencing a mysterious “blonde girl” who “always made me doubt.”

The internet quickly shifted its focus to Sabrina as they continued to decode the lyrics of the fan-favorite song, pointing fingers at Sabrina, who was rumored to be dating Joshua Bassett after his split with Olivia.

For months, the public speculated about what happened, but instead of commenting on the scandal, Sabrina released an emotional pop song. “Maybe ‘blonde’ was the only rhyme,” she said in her 2021 single ‘Skin,’ a subtle nod that fans took as a direct response to Olivia’s heartbreak ballad.

And on 2022’s ‘Emails I Can’t Send,’ she seemed to continue the story. “I got death threats fillin’ up semi-trucks… all ’cause I liked a boy.” Fast forward to 2025, Sabrina is narrating a different era of her life.

“What that era taught me was to just trust myself,” She told the publication. “And trust that everything is going to work out the way it’s supposed to, and trust that relationships are put into your life for a reason. You might not see that in the moment, but you see it later.”

She emphasized that she never set out to shift the public’s perception of her. “I didn’t really intentionally do that,” she admitted. “All I knew was that it wasn’t going to stop me from doing what I loved. Ever.”

In 2021, she told Billboard, “It’s such a waste of time, because you’ll never know the truth.” “That’s part of the fun of it, I guess,” she added at the time. “But at the same time, there are real people. I will say, that’s the hardest thing — trying to be truthful to yourself, make art that feels real and exciting, but then also knowing that [you’re writing] about humans going through what we’re all going through on a daily basis.”

The singer went on to share a cheeky response to the drama. “I’ve tried being brunette, and it didn’t look good on me, so this is what it is,” she declared.

Now, years after the headlines, the pair seem to be in a good place. The two former Disney stars reunited at the 2025 Grammys. The pair were spotted sharing a sweet embrace backstage, proving that the past is behind them.
