“Looking back to 2016 !” she captioned the post, made up of multiple photos of herself and her family. In them, Ivanka shared a look at her last pregnancy, that of her third child, Theo, who is now eight years old and was born in March of 2016.

Ivanka shared many photos of her children and herself, showing them enjoying those first days with the family’s newborn.

“Jared and I feel incredibly blessed to announce the arrival of Theodore James Kushner,” she wrote at the time on Facebook, sharing a photo of herself and her son. “Baby Theodore. My heart is full. xx, Ivanka.”

2016 is also the year in which her father, Donald Trump, won his first Presidential elections. The win kicked off a new political era for her family and for the United States, with Ivanka serving as one of his Senior Advisors throughout his first term in office.

Some of Ivanka’s photos show her alongside her dad or supporting him, including a photo of herself, her daughter Arabella, and her husband Jared Kushner, in the voting booth. She also shared a photo with her dad inside Air Force One, with the two enjoying a McDonald’s meal together.

The 2016 trend has been taking Millennials by storm, with the hashtag having over 2 million posts on TikTok.

“It’s 2026, people are feeling nostalgic for 2016 (because) enough time has passed to have those warm feelings for that time,” said a psychologist to NBC, as reported by Today.

Our heightened levels of nostalgia might be related to the existential anxiety that many are experiencing with an evolving technological and political landscape. “People tend to be nostalgic when they’re anxious about the future, or they’re not sure what direction in life to take,” the psychologist continued.

“So I think this generation is dealing with those anxieties, and they’re using nostalgia as a way to respond to them.” For a large subset of people, a decade also represents a significant passage of time, when they were younger and had fewer restrictions and expectations.
