Savannah Guthrie has broken her silence following the decision to release newly-released ransom notes that allege her missing mother, Nancy, has been dead for almost six months.

The Today Show host took to Instagram to share a picture of her beloved mom, who was taken from her home in the early hours of February 1, 2026, and tell followers that she is “begging for help“.

“We are desperate. We need someone to come forward. Someone knows something. Someone suspects something. Someone recognizes the writing in the ransom demand notes. Someone has noticed something different, strange, troubling or just unusual – perhaps with someone they deeply love,” Savannah shared.

“Perhaps they are afraid to come forward. Perhaps they are conflicted. Perhaps they are angry or upset for being in this situation. There is a way out – to tell what you know. You can do so anonymously. The reward is available. There is a way to end this situation and do the right thing.”

“Love you so much,” commented friend and co-host Jenna Bush Hager.

Savannah’s post also shared that every day since her mother went missing Savannah and her family “wake up and try to be strong and go on – because that’s what our joyful and resilient Mom taught us to do.”

“But make no mistake – our hearts are in ruins,” she continued. “Cam and Kristine, Annie and Tommy, Mike and me – we spend every waking moment thinking of her, longing for her, looking for her. There is a hole inside us that can never be filled. There is an ache that cannot be softened.

“And there is a determination in us that cannot be quenched – to find out what happened to her, so that we can give her the dignity of a proper goodbye – a celebration of her remarkable life that she so deserves.”

The post comes after Pima County’s Sheriff’s Office released the contents of two ransom notes, sent on February 2 and February 6, to local news station KOLD-TV.

Addressed to Nancy’s daughter, Savannah, the first letter demanded a $4 million ransom paid via Bitcoin to be sent before February 5.

However, a second letter, sent February 6, claimed that Nancy had died, apologizing to the Guthrie family, and alleged that Nancy was “buried in nature now”.

“We did not fully grasp the seriousness of her physical condition. We never intended to hurt her, that was not our intention. She perished shortly after she was taken. We believe it was heart related. She is buried in nature now,” the letter read.

“Nothing you could have done could have changed the outcome. We want your family to know this and hope you all can find peace. We are truly sorry.”

Nancy suffered from cardiac issues, high blood pressure, and limited mobility, and she relied on an implanted pacemaker alongside daily prescription medications.

The Guthrie family shared this publicly in the immediate days after her disappearance.

Nancy was last seen on the evening of January 31 when she was dropped off at her home by her daughter and son-in-law after dinner around 9.50 pm local time.

Investigations by Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI revealed that the front door camera had been disconnected around 1.57 am local time. Smart home software detected a person on camera around 2.12 am local time. At 2.28 am, Nancy’s pacemaker app disconnected from her phone.

She was reported missing the morning of February 1 when she did not show up to her regular Sunday church service.

Recovered videos from a doorbell camera showed an unknown man in a balaclava appearing on two videos, which may show him scoping the house before the kidnapping, according to FBI.
