Jennifer Garner is addressing one of the biggest changes of her life. After 10 years of marriage, Garner and Ben Affleck divorced in 2018. In a new interview, Garner revealed that her divorce prompted her to rethink her priorities, especially when it came to her finances.
Garner was a guest on the podcast “Aspire with Emma Grede,” discussing topics like success, work, and ambition. “I panicked when I was first out of my marriage and realized… I had taken such a step back in my work. I realized, I don’t know how long I’ll be able to work,” she said.
“I was suddenly like ‘Wait a minute. I have to take care of myself.’ I have to take care of these kids.”
“As someone who had never given a lot of thought to money, I needed to be an earner here.”
Following her divorce, Garner has grown her business beyond acting, currently serving as the Chief Brand Officer of Once Upon a Farm, a children’s nutrition company. In recent years, she’s gotten more involved with the production side of her movie and TV projects, having acting and producing roles in this year’s “The Five Star Weekend” and “The Last Thing He Told Me.”
She and Affleck co-parent their three kids: Violet, Fin, and Sam.

“God, I wanted it so badly,” said Garner. “I got down and I tested for it, and when I didn’t get it, I had to go to the desert — my first time in Palm Springs by myself — and just sit there for a couple of days.”
A few weeks later, she booked the project that made her career. “Two weeks later, Alias came to me,” Garner said. In it, she played the spy Sydney Bristow, a role that launched her to fame and remains a key TV show of the era. “Like, what is it? God’s rejection is divine, divine … protection? Rejection is God’s protection. … I’m all for that.”
