Jennifer Lopez paid tribute to Madonna by recreating one of the most recognizable scenes from the Like a Virgin music video during a recent trip to Venice. The singer shared a video of herself gliding through the city’s canals in a gondola while lip-syncing the 1984 hit, putting her own elegant spin on the moment that helped define Madonna‘s career.
In a video posted on Instagram, the 57-year-old looked effortlessly elegant in a loose, silky white blouse with an open neckline. She completed the look with layered gold necklaces and delicate gold earrings. The On the Floor singer also had her signature brown locks down, styled in loose waves, and she opted for natural-looking makeup to complete her glowing look.
Jennifer lost out on opportunity to Madonna
Last September, Jennifer revealed she spent “weeks” preparing to play politician-and-activist Evita Peron, in the 1996 musical-drama movie, Evita, before the role went to Madonna.
During a Q+A session, the Let’s Get Loud artist revealed: “I went to audition for Evita for [director] Alan Parker. “I had been practicing for weeks, and I sing my heart out, and he goes, ‘You’re amazing. You know Madonna has the part, right?’
“I said, ‘OK, bye-bye. Nice to meet you.'”
Jennifer Lopez ignored warnings about American Idol
In October 2024, Jennifer was warned that American Idol would ruin her acting career. However, the Office Romance and Kiss of the Spider Woman star, who was a judge on the ABC talent show in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2016, ignored the advice because she wanted to help the next generation of singers.
Jennifer told 42-year-old comedienne-and-actress Nikki Glaser in a conversation for Interview magazine, “I’ll do things that could be risky because I believe that they’re going to turn out OK. I’d done all these big movies and made these albums, and now they’re asking me to do reality TV. I’ve had kids, and I haven’t worked for a couple of years.!

When all of my advisors were like, ‘Don’t do this, you’re going to be reduced to just a reality star.’ It was looked down upon. ‘Don’t do that or nobody will ever hire you for a movie ever again.'”
However, she added, “And I was just like, ‘No. I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen. I think I have something to contribute.’ I love music, and I love mentoring people, and I wanted to share the things that I knew about the business. So it became more about, ‘What do I think I can do with this?'”
“When I’m choosing things, even if they seem like not the best idea to everybody else, if I feel it in my gut that it’s the right thing to do, nobody can talk me out of it.”
