In a bold move, Jack Schlossberg, the only grandson of President John F. Kennedy, has announced he’s boycotting the 2025 Met Gala, citing global turmoil and Vogue’s silence on political issues.
The 32-year-old Kennedy heir and former Vogue political correspondent isn’t just sitting this one out; he’s using the moment to launch a new media venture and throw some major shade at the fashion world’s biggest night and his former boss, Anna Wintour.
In a string of Instagram videos and posts, Schlossberg shared his decision with followers, aiming his message directly at the queen of fashion herself. “Hey, Anna Wintour. I’m sorry but I’m boycotting the Met Gala this year. I can’t go in good conscience with so much happening around the world and at home,” Schlossberg said in a selfie-style video.
He doubled down with a caption that left zero room for ambiguity: “BOYCOTT MET GALA 2025 sorry Anna WINTOUR but it’s NOT THE TIME @voguemagazine.”
Schlossberg didn’t stop at declining his invitation. He accuses Vogue of staying silent when it should be speaking out. “FASHION IS POLITICAL — So then why is VOGUE SO QUIET?! Vogue shouldn’t be so scared of my boycott OF THE MET GALA,” he posted. “Corporate interests often succeed in making fashion less attractive and relevant. BOYCOTT.”

In another video filmed while paddleboarding, Schlossberg acknowledged his past love for parties. “I love to party. I’ve been to the Met Gala before. I had a great time. But this year, with so much happening around the world and at home, I cannot in good conscience go.” Instead, he’s channeling that energy elsewhere: “I’ll be launching something brand new. Something of my own. Something important and informative.”

Jack Schlossberg has long been a bit of a wild card in the otherwise polished Kennedy clan. His offbeat Instagram rants, political hot takes, and unusual public appearances have earned him a reputation as the “internet’s favorite unhinged Kennedy.”
He’s also Harvard-educated, has a law degree in tow, and has done stints writing for major publications like Vogue. Now, he’s shifting gears and taking a very public stand at the expense of a glitzy invite and perhaps a few A-list friendships.
Meanwhile, the Met Gala Marches On
As tradition dictates, on the first Monday in May, stars will swan up the steps of the Met in looks inspired by this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
