After five months offline, Justin Baldoni is back on social media, and the timing couldn’t be more headline-worthy. The It Ends With Us director returned to Instagram on Mother’s Day, posting a photo alongside two key women in his life: his mom, Sharon Baldoni, and his wife, Emily, with whom he shares a son, Maxwell, and daughter, Maiya.
The photo, which looks recent based on Baldoni’s haircut, shows the family embracing after a beach day. His head rests on his mom’s, and Emily’s on his shoulder, and their kids snuggle close.
Baldoni wrote in the caption, “My mom gave us faith. My wife is the definition of it. Our children are growing up in the fortress of that love. Happy Mother’s Day to all.”
The post racked up over half a million likes in under 24 hours and was flooded with support, especially in light of the high-profile lawsuit with Blake Lively. One top comment reads: “Good men are raised by good women.”
Others praised him for keeping his comments open, unlike Lively, who has limited hers. “That should say it all,” one user wrote. “Your ability to leave your comments on speaks volumes!!! Truth will prevail,” added another.
While Lively may not have her comments open, people have found other ways to make their voices heard. When Time released their 100 most influential list, which included Lively, people flooded the outlet and the journalist, Sherrilyn Ifill’s social media accounts, to share their discontent.
Her film, Another Simple Favor, is also streaming, and while it is #1 on Prime Video worldwide for two weeks in a row, the comments on the film’s social media page are rough. It might not be because of the lawsuit drama, but the top liked comments are people hating on the film.
The case goes Swiftie
Just days before Baldoni’s post, PEOPLE confirmed that Taylor Swift has been subpoenaed to testify in the March 2026 trial. Baldoni’s team is expected to argue that Lively pressured him to give up creative control over a key scene-allegedly with backup from Swift and Ryan Reynolds.
One of the lawsuit’s viral moments came from text messages where Lively compared Swift and Reynolds to her “dragons,” referencing Game of Thrones: “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi… I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for.”
In response to the subpoena, Swift’s rep released a strong statement to PEOPLE, saying: “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set… She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions. She never saw an edit or made any notes.” They added that Swift only allowed her song “My Tears Ricochet” to be used in the film, along with 19 other artists, and slammed the subpoena as “tabloid clickbait.”
Swift isn’t the only star tied to the trial. Hugh Jackman’s name has also surfaced, and Lively herself is expected to testify.
