Karol G is a global superstar, but she’s still making some of her dreams come true. The Colombian queen found herself shaking after she had the opportunity to sing another duet with Alicia Keys. The “Girl on Fire” singer attended Karol G’s Con Cora Foundation’s Con Cora Land Benefit Gala at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens on March 20, 2026, in Miami, Florida, and once Keys found a keyboard, it became a full-circle moment.
On Tuesday, they shared a joint video on Instagram in full glam with Keys in a one-shoulder green dress, and Karol in a soft silver halter dress. They sang “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart,” and from the start, Karol is beaming. She’s smiling, but also visibly emotional, like she’s trying to hold it together in a moment she’s been imagining for years.
After the duet, Karol admitted she’s shaking. Someone in the room pointed out she’s been waiting for this for “20–30 years,” and she agreed, still in disbelief.
Keys captioned the post, “A SUPER special moment singing ‘Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart’ with my sis @karolg. When I found out how much this song meant to her, it was sooooo sweet!!! That kind of love and herstory just hits different.”
Long before the stadium tours and global hits, Karol G was on YouTube doing covers, including “Try sleeping with a broken heart.”
Uploaded almost 16 years ago, on May 6, 2010, the Colombian superstar about to headline Coachella was the girl in a yellow tank top, recording herself, putting her voice out there, dreaming of moments like this without knowing if they’d ever come.
Karol’s emotional response
The “Bichota” singer put everything into words in the comments, writing, “I’ve been preparing my whole life for this.” “It’s literally my reality… I’ve spent my whole life getting ready to live moments that once only existed as dreams in my head, and now—after so much—they’ve become real. I watch this video and the one from 16 years ago, and I can’t believe it,” she continued, “thank you, Alicia for your generosity… you’re a queen!!!!”
It’s not the first time keys have created a surreal moment for Karol. Two years ago, she brought Karol out during a live performance to sing “No One” at Keys’ concert at the city’s Movistar Arena in Colombia.
Karol’s old YouTube account has three covers, one of Keys and two of Lauryn Hill – “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Killing Me Softly.” Which means Hill has the chance to do something epic if she ever gets back on stage.
