Kate Beckinsale has deleted a pair of social media posts that sparked worry among her fans.
The actress, 53, took to her Instagram page on Sunday, September 20 with a screenshot of a black screen posted on her main grid that simply read “bye.”
On her Instagram Stories, she shared a photo of a rainbow over a street, on which she wrote: “congratulations you won i give up.” A representative for the actress did not respond to HELLO!’s request for comment.
Hours later, the posts were removed from her social media page, which has over 5.3 million followers and is now back to being scrubbed blank. The reasoning behind her cryptic posts was not explained.
The Underworld star had previously erased her Instagram page completely in August after she’d highlighted some of the horrific comments she’d received about her appearance and her voice.
In a now-deleted video, she said that “anytime I post a photo of myself, I receive an enormous amount of comments telling me how disgusting I look and I’m anorexic or I’m on meth or that I’ve lost so much weight.”
© InstagramThe actress reminded fans not only of her autoimmune disease, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), which she had been diagnosed with 16 years earlier, but also that she had been dealing with grief following devastating losses in her family.
“First off, I’ve lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short time,” she stated. In 2024, Kate’s stepfather Roy Battersby passed away. And 18 months later, she lost her mother Judy Loe to cancer.
She reminded her followers that they often “don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives,” adding: “Treat people just how you’d like to be treated yourself, give people a little grace. If you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe don’t say anything.”

In response to one of the negative comments about her appearance that she spotlighted on her Instagram Stories, she wrote: “You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about what you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement… I think people might be broken.”
In another post, Kate heartbreakingly penned: “I really am truly sorry guys, I genuinely thought it would be helpful to raise some awareness about a disease that so many doctors don’t understand and it causes so much suffering. I wish I had known more about it years ago but I think I’m the wrong person, so I’m really sorry. I did not mean to offend.”
