Prince George is now studying at Eton College, enrolling there earlier in the week. By his side were proud parents Prince William and Princess Kate, and it’s likely that the pair are expecting their son to excel at the historic institution.
Speaking on HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast, HELLO!’s royal editor, Emily Nash, stated that the Princess would not have allowed her eldest son to head to Eton if she didn’t think he could handle it.
Speaking on the latest episode, she explained: “I think what William and Catherine have done is they’ve chosen the school that is right for him, and they’ll choose the school that’s right for each individual child. This is not like a one size fits all, is it?
“They know better than anyone else what their personalities are like, what their interests are like, which sports are best provided for at which school. And we know they’ve done so much research on this.”
Emily continued: “It really does show that George is a smart kid because I don’t think you get into Eton anymore just off the back of who your parents are. I genuinely don’t think that in this day and age, they could put someone into Eton and get them through in the way that may have happened in previous generations.
“Catherine is on it in terms of his education. I don’t think they would put him in a place where he would feel he wasn’t able to keep up.”
George looked at ease as he was seen attending Eton with his parents ahead of the new school year. In official photos, the young royal was seen wearing Eton’s very traditional uniform, including a tailcoat, winged-collar and white tie.
The future heir to the throne even caught the giggles as his father struggled with an umbrella. As the trio stepped out and onto the Berkshire institution’s historic quadrangle, William’s umbrella turned entirely inside out, causing him to abandon the use of his brolly and proceed to get wet in the downpour as they made their way across campus.
Speaking about the moments seen by the press on the day, Emily said: “The three of them looked very happy. They will have agonised over this choice. William will know that it’s a great place for him to go. He was very happy at Eton. It was a haven for him during that difficult period of his life and somewhere where he made lifelong friends. So he knows how well this could work out for George.
“Catherine had a different experience at school, but she is so tuned into mental health, emotional resilience, all of these things. You can bet your bottom dollar she will have gone through it all with a fine-tooth comb. There’s no danger of her having sent him anywhere where he would be anything other than blissfully happy.”
A new era for Prince George
While his arrival at boarding school marks a big change for George, he won’t be far from his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, who live at the eight-bedroom Forest Lodge, a stone’s throw from the renowned school in Windsor.

“And the boys now are allowed a little bit of freedom to pop in and out of school at the weekends, to come home for Sunday lunch or tea on a Saturday evening after their sports fixtures.”
