Prince George and Princess Charlotte were recently spotted touring Marlborough College, the Wiltshire boarding school where their mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales, spent her own formative years.

The visit has reignited speculation about where the young royals might continue their education as they approach secondary school age. According to Daily Mail, pupils at the co‑educational school, situated in the heart of the market town of Marlborough, were “shocked to see Kate and [Prince] William getting out of a very smart car and walking through court,” leading students to realize why the campus was bustling with extra activities that day, from choir practice to art exhibitions.

That sighting comes at a moment when the future school plans for the Wales children are still under discussion. While it has long been assumed that Prince George might follow in his father’s footsteps by attending the prestigious all‑boys Eton College, alma mater of Prince William, Prince Harry, and King Charles III, insiders now suggest Marlborough is emerging as a leading contender because of its co‑educational environment.

That potential choice carries sentimental weight for the Princess of Wales, who enrolled at Marlborough in 1996 and where she spent some of her most meaningful youth years alongside siblings Pippa and James Middleton.

An insider speaking with Vanity Fair told InStyle that the family is seriously weighing Marlborough. “I think if they can, they would love for all three children to be at school together, which puts Marlborough as the top choice.”

The source added that although Eton remains an obvious option due to its proximity and history, the couple “are leaning towards other schools… I’m hearing Marlborough is the frontrunner.”  That potential choice carries sentimental weight for the Princess of Wales, who enrolled at Marlborough in 1996 and where she spent some of her most meaningful youth years alongside siblings Pippa and James Middleton.

For William and Kate, a decision that honors her experience while supporting an educational environment suited to both George and Charlotte would signal a thoughtful blend of family heritage and a modern approach to schooling.
