It’s a bittersweet chapter for Kelly Clarkson heading into the 2026 fall season.

It was announced ahead of the weekend that the final episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show will be airing sooner than expected, on Monday, August 31.

While fans knew for months that the show would be ending this fall, news that Kelly, 44, shared back in February, the exact date for it was kept under wraps until days before the actual finale will drop.

Kelly Clarkson’s grown-up kids, River and Remy

The show announced the news on social media, featuring a photo of Kelly on set doing her final “Kellyoke” set, and joined by none other than her two children, River Rose and Remington “Remy” Alexander Blackstock.

Kelly shares River, 12, and Remy, 10, with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, and the rarely-seen pair already look so grown up. While Kelly’s daughter has made more frequent appearances on the show than her younger brother, in the latest snap, she’s already as tall as her mom, sporting a floral jacket and bangs identical to the ones Kelly had recently.

In fact, viewers will get to say goodbye to the show alongside the two, who have been announced as two of the guests to join their famous mom on the show’s final episode.

What does The Kelly Clarkson Show’s series finale include?

While there may be more aspects of the episode that are being kept under wraps, from what’s been announced so far, the final episode will include a “by request” section for “Kellyoke,” the segment of the show in which the host covers a variety of songs, which often go viral.

Some of the songs to be included in the final “Kellyoke” section are already available, which include Kelly’s own biggest hits, “Since U Been Gone,” “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” and “Piece by Piece,” as well as other tracks like “Sober,” “Didn’t I,” and “I’d be Lyin’.” It also includes the track “Golden,” likely a cover of the KPop Demon Hunters hit.

Why is The Kelly Clarkson Show ending?

The inaugural American Idol champ announced her decision to step away from the talk show to “prioritize” raising her kids River and Remy, especially following the death of their father in 2025.

“This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she wrote at the time. “Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”

“I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time…you never know where I might show up next.”

The “Breakaway” singer has continued her TV career, though, most recently committing to making appearances once again as a coach on The Voice. She said as much in her statement as well: “This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time…you never know where I might show up next.”
