Howie Mandel turned 70 in November, and there’s no denying that he looks incredible. But if you’re ever face-to-face with the comedian, be careful how you compliment him. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos found themselves in an awkward spat with the iconic host while on Monday’s episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark.”
Mandel sat on stage with the couple when his big 70th birthday came up. The Sagittarius celebrated the milestone on November 29, 2025. “It doesn’t make any sense,” Ripa remarked, which immediately lit up Mandel. “What do you mean? It doesn’t make any sense!” he snapped back. Consuelos chimed in, trying to ease the conversation, agreeing – “You look great.”
Mandel, getting up in the chair, repeated, “That I look great?. “That doesn’t mean anything,” he added before explaining why he was getting worked up, “No, no, no. I don’t like that because that’s a caveat, ’cause you tell someone you’re 70, and they go, ‘you look great—.’”
Ripa tried to interject, insisting they were not saying he looks great for 70, saying, “We’re saying you look great, and I don’t believe you’re 70.”
Mandel wouldn’t budge, saying they were saying that, “without saying 70.” No, no. It’s like saying you’re smart for a stupid person. Oh, you seem smart, you seem smart,’ you see, no, I don’t look good,” he continued.
After Consuelos insisted that Mandel does look good, the America’s Got Talent host let the tense situation go by, agreeing, saying he’s “gorgeous.”
He also revealed one of the “ridiculous workouts” his trainer, host Jerry O’Connell, got him into. “I swim but have these cables which I tie onto my ankles, and then I attach them to whatever is at the side of the pool,” he explained. “Then he gave me these frying pan paddles, and I swim for an hour and go nowhere.”
Despite the awkward conversation, everything got reeled back in. Mandel has his own podcast, Howie Mandel Does Stuff, so we will have to wait and see if he speaks out about the interaction, considering there are so many headlines about it.
