Kelly Ripa is coming clean about her nighttime routines and the impact they have on her marriage. The TV icon and her husband, Mark Consuelos, discussed their routines in a new episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” with the two finding some common ground with the mating habits of koalas.
In the episode, Consuelos was reading about Koalas and how they process their heartbreak. “So when they’re mating, the koala goes in there and says, you know, ‘Hey, I’m Mr. Koala. Nice to meet you, Ms. Koala.’ And sometimes they’re not interested, so they turn their backs on them. And instead of being heartbroken, they just go to sleep,” said Consuelos.
“It’s like you!” piped in Ripa, making them and the audience laugh.
“I come to bed with my little eucalyptus leaf, and I’m like, ‘Hey, you want to fool around?'” Consuelos mimed. “‘No? Okay,'” he said, dramatically turning away.
“He hears the retainer pop in, it’s like a chastity belt,” said Ripa.
“When you put it in, it’s like, click, click, click. Alright, guess I’m going to bed.”
The awkward Howie Mandel interview
Last week, Ripa and Consuelos made headlines after an awkward interview with Howie Mandel. The comedian and host of “America’s Got Talent” was featured on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” where he shared that he’d recently celebrated his 70th birthday.
“It doesn’t make any sense!” said Ripa. The comment made Mandel annoyed. “What do you mean? It doesn’t make any sense!” he said. After Consuelos tried to ease the tension by saying that Mandel looked great, he got up from his seat. “That I look great?. “That doesn’t mean anything,” he said. “No, no, no. I don’t like that because that’s a caveat, ’cause you tell someone you’re 70, and they go, ‘you look great.’”
The awkward moment lasted longer and resulted in an apology from Mandel, shared on his social media from the beach. “I don’t believe that somebody who’s a comedian needs to apologize for a joke… it is meant as a joke… It’s not meant to offend,” he said. “Not only do I want to say I’m sorry to Kelly… you’re right, you’re absolutely right, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it that way.”
