Kelly Ripa had to listen to her husband before Oscars night. In an episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” she opened up about her experience getting ready for this year’s Oscars, and how she had to turn to Mark Consuelos’ health tips to feel more comfortable in her dress.
Ripa revealed that she was having some trouble fitting into her Oscars dress a couple of days before the show. “So right before the Academy Awards, I was having trouble getting my dress zipped up the side. It was a side-zip dress, and I kept getting zipped into the dress,” she said.
“I don’t know if any women have experienced having your side skin sipped into your dress. It is a punishing thing.”
© Evan AgostiniRipa revealed that she had to find a fast solution, so she began to follow Mark’s diet, which is very regimented and prioritizes his protein intake for optimal strength and muscle definition.
“It’s the only time I’ve listened to Mark about my diet because I typically don’t like to do what you’re doing,” she said. “I just find, you’re like, way too disciplined. I can’t live that way.”

© Disney via Getty ImagesWhile the diet wasn’t her favorite and she likely won’t be following it any time soon, she found many benefits from its short-term use, making her look and feel leaner. Ripa also revealed that she usually prefers to avoid animal protein.
“I didn’t love it, because I’m not big on animal protein,” she explained, sharing that most of the meals she ate consisted of yogurt, meats, and vegetables.
“I don’t love it, but I ate exactly how you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up, no side skin. And I looked super fit. Super, super fit. So thank you for that.”
