Kendall Jenner did not take center stage during Super Bowl LX, but by the time Bad Bunny wrapped his halftime show, all eyes had found her anyway.
As the Puerto Rican superstar delivered a high-voltage, culture-rich performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, cameras repeatedly cut to a VIP suite where Jenner watched from the sidelines, hands clasped tightly with best friend Hailey Bieber.
The footage felt intimate and a little awkward. Jenner, 30, moved minimally to the music, wearing a black cropped top and blue jeans, while Bieber, 29, stood close in her white fur puffer and jeans, never letting go of her friend’s hand.
Neither woman sang along. Neither smiled. Instead, Bieber appeared to watch Jenner more than the stage itself, a quiet show of solidarity that fans immediately clocked online.
“Why [does] it look like Hailey is giving Kendall emotional support and why does she look like she’s rethinking her whole life decisions? I’d be like that too if I fumbled Benito tbh,” one viewer wrote on X.
Another added, “Female support in those situations has everything to do with it. I would need it too if I ever had to witness it.”
Earlier in the night, Jenner had arrived at the stadium looking relaxed and upbeat, walking through the corridors with rapper 21 Savage and members of her inner circle.
The NFL even shared a clip of the group’s arrival, fueling speculation about her connection to the evening long before halftime kicked off.
For the game, Jenner leaned into her signature off-duty style, pairing the cropped top with high-waisted jeans, pointed-toe heels, minimal jewelry and straight, loose hair.
While Jenner kept her social media focused on business, posting only about her Fanatics Sportsbook partnership and joking about losing a bet on the Patriots, her presence during Bad Bunny’s set spoke volumes.
The pair dated on and off from early 2023 through the fall of 2024, a romance that was both high-profile and notably private.
“Kendall and Bad Bunny have been doing their own things lately, and things slowly started to fizzle out between them,” a source previously told “Entertainment Tonight.”
“They both knew going into this that it likely wouldn’t be a forever type of relationship, and that was mutually understood from the get-go,” the source continued. “They have crazy busy schedules and know they’re still young and have a lot more to experience individually before settling down.”
The relationship first sparked in February 2023, when Jenner and Bad Bunny were spotted on what appeared to be a double date with Hailey and Justin Bieber.
That summer, they were photographed kissing at a Drake concert, and by May 2024, reconciliation rumors flared again after an insider told Page Six they looked “cozy and cuddly” at a Met Gala afterparty. They were later seen leaving a Miami hotel together and eventually stepped out publicly at Vogue World: Paris in matching outfits.
Still, it did not last. By September 2024, Us Weekly reported the two had split once more. “They’re still friendly but have taken a step back and aren’t dating,” a source said at the time, adding that they had been “more serious after their short break,” but that it “ultimately didn’t work out long term.”
Bad Bunny’s halftime show, meanwhile, was anything but restrained. The six-time Grammy winner ran through fan favorites including “Tití Me Preguntó,” “Yo Perreo Sola” and “DtMF,” surrounded by dancers and celebrity guests like Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G, Pedro Pascal, Alix Earle and Young Miko.
Lady Gaga appeared for a surprise salsa-style rendition of “Die with a Smile,” dressed in the blue of the Puerto Rican flag and wearing the Flor de Maga, while Ricky Martin later joined to perform “Lo Que Pasó a Hawaii.”
For Jenner, the night marked another chapter in a year she has openly described as one focused on herself. Last month, she confirmed she has been single for a while after spending much of her 20s in long-term relationships.
“I try [to] find the balance of keeping things private and keeping things sacred, [and] also not letting the unfortunate frustration and stress of everyone trying to get in on it stop me from enjoying my side,” she previously told WSJ. magazine.
