Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner reunite but keep their distance

Kevin Costner and his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, were back in the same place this weekend – but probably not by choice. The pair, who finalized their headline-making divorce in February, reunited in Santa Barbara to celebrate their son Cayden’s high school graduation. And while they technically attended the same event, they were able to keep their distance. 

According to the Grosby Group, the former couple sat on opposite ends of the school grounds. They also rotated photo ops with Cayden like a joint custody handoff.

The former couple shares Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 14, and Kevin is also the father to Annie, 40, Lily, 37, and Joe, 36, with his ex-wife Cindy Silva, and Liam, 26, with Bridget Rooney. Lily was there as well, and she posed with her dad and half-brother in a black dress.

Despite the tension, it’s always good to see parents showing up for their children, even if they don’t interact. The graduation moment marked one of the first times they’ve been spotted at the same event since the split. There is no denying the high school senior appreciated having them both there, even if they didn’t get to take a family photo.

Life after the divorce

While things have died down, after their split, it was nonstop headlines with public back-and-forths, alleged financial drama, and Christine quickly moving on with one of Kevin’s former close friends, wealthy financier Josh Connor.

After initially denying a romantic relationship, the new couple was spotted on a family vacation in Hawaii and spent Christmas together in New York. Then, in January, PEOPLE reported that Josh proposed during an intimate dinner on the beach in Santa Barbara. The surprise engagement came fast, but insiders said Christine’s inner circle is “incredibly supportive.”

Kevin, on the other hand, hasn’t been linked to anyone seriously post-divorce, though his name did briefly swirl around in dating rumors with singer Jewel after the two appeared together at a tennis fundraiser and were photographed cozying up together. He also made headlines with rumors about Jennifer Lopez, which turned out to be fake news.
