Kevin Jonas may have spent years being a teen heartthrob himself, but he apparently isn’t quite ready to watch his daughters develop crushes of their own.

The Jonas Brothers singer recently joked that his two daughters were “a little too excited” when Malachi Barton appeared on screen while the family watched Camp Rock 3 together.

Kevin, 38, made the playful confession while chatting exclusively with People alongside brothers Nick and Joe Jonas at the premiere of the highly anticipated Disney sequel. The event took place Aug. 10 at the Walt Disney Studio Lot in Burbank, California.

The eldest Jonas brother said he had recently sat down with daughters Alena Rose, 12, and Valentina Angelina, 9, to watch the latest chapter in the Disney franchise.

“It’s really incredible. I just watched it the other night with our girls and they were very excited,” Kevin said.

But apparently, their enthusiasm quickly became a little too much for their dad.

“A little too excited when Malachi [Barton] got on screen, but we’re not going to talk about that right now,” he joked.

Malachi Barton Plays the New Disney Heartthrob

Barton, 19, plays Fletch Robinson in Camp Rock 3. His character is an edgy singer-songwriter and guitarist who joins the musical world of the new film.

Considering his role, it seems the young actor has already earned some fans among the next generation of Camp Rock viewers — including Kevin’s daughters.

Kevin’s reaction was all in good fun, though the proud dad clearly wasn’t eager to dwell on his daughters’ newfound admiration for the teenage star.

Still, he had nothing but praise for Barton and the rest of the new cast.

“People are going to love the songs. They’re going to love the dancing,” Kevin said, adding that the new performers are “so unbelievably talented.”

The Jonas Brothers Are Passing Camp Rock Down to Their Kids

While Kevin may have been keeping tabs on his daughters’ reactions, the Jonas brothers are embracing the fact that their Disney projects now appeal to a whole new generation.

Nick Jonas, 33, explained that he and his brothers have particularly enjoyed working with Disney again now that they are fathers themselves.

“I think that as parents, the last couple years we’ve been so thrilled to get to partner with Disney on a bunch of different projects,” Nick said.

Those projects include A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, Camp Rock 3 and several other collaborations currently in the works.

The singer explained that the brothers are interested in creating entertainment that their own children can enjoy alongside them.

“I think that we’re trying to bring things into the world that we can share with our kids and that we can experience as a family,” he said.

Their Fan Base Has Become Multigenerational

For Nick, watching the Jonas Brothers’ audience grow older has been one of the most rewarding parts of their careers.

The group first became major stars with a younger Disney audience, but many of those original fans have since grown up, started families of their own and continued supporting the brothers.

Nick said the brothers now see that evolution firsthand when they perform live.

“When we look out at our shows, what we’re seeing is that multigenerational effect of people that were our age in their teens, who are now adults with their own kids, bringing them to shows,” he explained.

He believes the same thing could happen with Camp Rock 3, with parents who grew up watching the original films now introducing the franchise to their own children.

“And I think the same thing will happen with this,” Nick added.

The Jonas Brothers Are All Dads Now

The new generation of Camp Rock fans isn’t just growing up around the Disney franchise — the Jonas brothers are also raising children of their own.

Kevin shares his two daughters, Alena and Valentina, with wife Danielle Jonas, whom he married in 2009.

Joe Jonas, meanwhile, shares daughters Delphine, 4, and Willa, 6, with his ex-wife Sophie Turner.

With all three brothers now navigating parenthood, their perspective on the franchise has naturally changed.

What once represented their teenage years and rise to fame is now something they can experience with their children.

Camp Rock Still Holds a Special Place in Their Hearts

The original Camp Rock premiered on Disney Channel in 2008 and became a defining part of the Jonas Brothers’ early careers. The film starred the brothers alongside Demi Lovato and helped turn the band into household names among young viewers.

More than a decade later, the franchise is returning with a new cast while keeping the Jonas brothers connected to the story.

Nick said the Camp Rock franchise continues to occupy “such a wonderful place” in the brothers’ hearts.

And judging by Kevin’s daughters’ reaction to the latest installment, it looks like the franchise may be creating some brand-new Jonas family memories — even if Dad would rather not discuss their excitement over the new heartthrob.
