If you’re the kind of parent who double-checks the locks at night and mentally maps out an escape route just from watching too many crime shows, you might be exactly on Khloé Kardashian’s wavelength. The Good American founder just revealed that she doesn’t let her 7-year-old daughter True Thompson have sleepovers, and it’s not because she’s being dramatic. It’s because she’s seen one too many episodes of Dateline.
Khloé spilled the truth on her Khloé in Wonder Land podcast during a convo with UFC president Dana White. She didn’t sugarcoat her sleepover stance at all. “I don’t let my kids sleep anywhere. I’m very strict about it,” she said. “Times are different, so I won’t let my daughter, or my son, who’s 2½ — they’re not allowed to have sleepovers just because I’m one of those types of… I just — I think too much. I’ve watched too much Dateline.”
While most kids see a sleepover as the ultimate weekend win, with pizza, movies, and candy overload, Khloé Kardashian sees red flags. And honestly, she’s not alone. Plenty of parents feel the same, especially in an age where safety concerns are real and the internet has made oversharing way too easy.
Sure, experts say sleepovers help kids build independence and social skills. But if your gut says, “Nope,” that’s your cue. Khloé’s not here for mom-shaming or debates; she’s just keeping it real about her boundaries.
And just because there’s no overnight fun doesn’t mean True isn’t getting magical memories. Over the weekend, the Kardashian crew went all out for her 7th birthday with a Rainbow Friends-themed arcade party.
But What Happens When They Do Grow Up?
Kids grow up way too fast, and Khloé is already spiraling at the thought of becoming an empty nester. “I don’t know if I’m gonna like being an empty nester,” she admitted. “I’ll probably shave my head and go nuts or something. Or buy a ton of animals.”
That’s why she’s on a low-key mission to make her kids think living next door to mom forever is normal. “I’m sort of brainwashing my kids to think this is normal… so when I’m old enough, they’re just gonna think, this is what you’re supposed to do.”
She’s Soaking Up Every Second
Khloé knows the day’s coming when True and Tatum will trade mom time for friend hangouts. But for now, she’s savoring the sweet spot. “There’s gonna be a time that my kids are gonna want to choose their friends over me,” she said. “Right now, when I have the opportunity and the privilege of having dinner with my kids every night, I’m going to take advantage of that.”
And she knows exactly how she won’t be remembered: “In 15 years, my kids are never going to be like, ‘I really wish you worked more. I really remember that time you were at work late.’ They’re going to be like, ‘Why the f*** weren’t you there?'”
A Parenting Move Many Moms Are Cheering On
Her no-sleepover policy seems strict to some, but to others, it’s a totally valid form of protection. Whether you’re a Dateline fan or just a parent who likes to sleep knowing exactly where your kids are, there’s no one-size-fits-all rulebook. And Khloé is confidently writing her own.
So next time your little one begs for a slumber party, feel free to pull the “Khloé card.”
