Kim Kardashian is once again showing off her family’s newest furry additions — just weeks after facing backlash for gifting her kids puppies for Christmas.
On Friday, March 6, the reality star, 45, shared an Instagram post featuring the same two photos of her family’s Pomeranian puppies that she first posted on Christmas Day back in December.
“Welcome to the fam,” she captioned the post.
Kim initially revealed the surprise during the holidays, posting a series of videos and photos on her Instagram Stories showing that the household had welcomed four tiny Pomeranians — two with dark fur, one with a cream-colored coat and another with sable fur. Alongside a photo showing all four pups together, she wrote, “Each kid got a puppy.”
Kim shares her four children — North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6 — with her ex-husband, Kanye West.
In January, the Skims founder posted more glimpses of the pups on her Instagram Stories, including clips of the kids playing with them around the house. In one video, Kim held one of the puppies up to the camera while one of her children could be heard saying in the background, “Mommy, look, it licks me!”
Another clip showed Chicago hugging and kissing the same pup in the family’s living room. Psalm also appeared in the videos, crawling around on his hands and knees next to Chicago as the siblings chased one of the dark-haired puppies around the room.
Not long after Kim revealed the Christmas gifts, the decision sparked criticism from animal rights advocates — including Ingrid Newkirk.
“Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that,” Newkirk said in a statement to PEOPLE.
She also suggested that Kim and her sister, Khloé Kardashian — who also reportedly gave her family a dog for Christmas — rethink how they add pets to their homes. Newkirk encouraged the sisters to “call PETA or a local shelter the next time” they want to bring another dog into the family.
“[They can] try to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis,” the PETA founder added.
The wider Kardashian-Jenner family has built quite the collection of pets over the years — from dogs and cats to reptiles and even horses. Their youngest sibling, Kylie Jenner, has multiple dogs, while Kendall Jenner owns a horse named Arizona.
Kim and her kids have also shared photos of their reptiles in the past, including a bearded dragon named Speed. The family already had several Pomeranians before the newest additions as well, including two that joined the household in 2019. Kim also has another Pomeranian named Sushi.
