Who Is Kristi Noem?
Kristi is a politician who served as the eighth United States Secretary of Homeland Security under Donald. She assumed the role on January 25, 2025, following Senate confirmation by a 59–34 vote. She was released from the DHS in March 2026.
Before her appointment to the DHS, Kristi served as the 33rd governor of South Dakota from 2019 to 2025, becoming the state’s first female governor. She previously represented South Dakota’s at-large congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019 and served in the South Dakota House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.
