Kylie Jenner has been open about a childhood accident that left her with a permanent scar of about five inches on her left thigh, a mark she now embraces fully.
The incident took place when Kylie was around five years old, playing hide-and-seek with her sister Kendall. “When I was about 5 my sister and I were playing hide and seek and I hid inside this really tall-enclosed gate,” Kylie recalled in a Q&A with Celebuzz.
She continued, “After a while when my sister didn’t find me I had to climb up on this sharp pole sticking out from the gate. I slipped and the pole went into my leg. I tried pulling away to get the pole out but it just tore through my whole leg.”
Kylie has been candid about how the scar has changed over the years. “It’s smaller now though because I grew!” she added. Despite the trauma, she has expressed love for the mark. “I love my scar,” she wrote on Instagram in 2015.
Her acceptance of the scar has been public and deliberate. In 2018, Kylie posed for the cover of GQ with then-boyfriend Travis Scott, requesting that the scar remain untouched by Photoshop. In a playful video for the cover shoot, she quizzed Scott about her body.
“Biggest scar? On your leg,” he answered quickly. “Which leg? It’s a bonus question,” Kylie teased. “Left,” Scott confirmed. “He really knows my body,” she added.
Kylie has also addressed her scar on Twitter, writing, “I could try and do treatments to remove it, but I like it. I think it makes me,” a sentiment that underscores her personal pride and confidence.
She previously showcased the mark on Instagram and at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, prompting fans to ask about its origin.
A sibling bond tested and strengthened:
The relationship between Kylie and Kendall has been a mix of rivalry and support. Kylie describes herself as a “Leo” and extroverted, while Kendall, like their mother Kris, is a more reserved “Scorpio.”
Episodes from ‘The Kardashians’ revealed that Kendall felt jealous of Kylie’s free-spirited nature as children, with Kylie joking that Kendall was a “hater” during their youth.
Motherhood has been a turning point. Both agree that the birth of Kylie’s daughter Stormi in 2018 brought them closer. Kendall told ZAZA WORLD RADIO that seeing Kylie as a mother made her “more loving” toward her sister.
Despite Kylie admitting in ‘Life of Kylie’ that “we probably wouldn’t be friends if we weren’t sisters” because of their differing lifestyles, their bond has evolved into an “unbreakable” connection, rooted in shared experiences growing up in the public eye.
Professionally, the Jenner sisters have also carved out distinct paths. While they once collaborated on projects, both now run separate ventures.
Kendall was initially unable to collaborate with Kylie’s cosmetics brand due to her own exclusivity contract with Estée Lauder. Once that ended, she became the last Jenner to launch a collection with Kylie Cosmetics.
Their journey highlights a fascinating blend of personal growth and sisterhood. From a terrifying childhood accident to thriving careers and a strengthened familial bond, Kylie’s scar remains a visible reminder of resilience, and a story she proudly shares.
