A former insider is shedding light on what it’s really like to work in one of the most famous celebrity circles in the world—and why walking away wasn’t as simple as it seemed. Victoria Villarroel, who worked closely with Kylie Jenner for five years, is opening up about her decision to leave the role.
Speaking candidly on her podcast, she revealed that the dynamic between her and Kylie gradually shifted in ways that made staying no longer feel right.
From Dream Job to Complicated Reality
Victoria first entered the Kardashian-Jenner world through Jenner Communications, the company led by Kris Jenner. Within just a week, she was assigned to assist both Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
That quickly proved overwhelming. She explained that managing responsibilities for both sisters was “too difficult,” prompting her to focus solely on Kylie. In a surprising twist, she even recommended her sister to take over as Kendall’s assistant—keeping things within the family.
Victoria’s role evolved fast. She started as a house manager, transitioned into a personal assistant, and eventually became an executive assistant. It was a career trajectory many would consider a dream—but behind the scenes, things were changing.
When Professional Lines Started Blurring
As the years passed, the relationship between Victoria and Kylie became increasingly personal. “Obviously me and Kylie had a working relationship, but you can’t not get so close with a person you see every single day,” Victoria shared. “You know everything about them, you’re with them at all times – good or bad.”
That closeness, while natural, began to complicate boundaries. One moment in particular stood out to her as a turning point. “I remember like it was yesterday – this was year five,” she said. “We were in the kitchen and Kylie was like, ‘Vic, I need my laptop, it’s upstairs,’ and I was like, ‘Oof, who’s gonna get that?’”
She added, “I said something crazy like, ‘Oof, that seems far, I don’t want to go get your laptop.’” That seemingly small interaction highlighted a deeper shift. The line between boss and friend had blurred enough that the dynamic no longer felt professional.
The Moment She Knew It Was Time to Leave
Victoria revealed that both she and Kylie recognized when things had reached a breaking point. According to her, they mutually agreed that it was time for her to move on. “I remember being so nervous and thinking, ‘Am I making the right decision? What if I’m leaving the best job I could ever have?’” she admitted.
The pressure to stay was intense. She said people around her kept reminding her that she was walking away from a position “people would die for.” Still, she trusted her instincts.
Kylie Jenner’s Reaction
Rather than tension or conflict, Victoria described Kylie’s response as overwhelmingly supportive. “She’s the most understanding person, she was like, ‘Oh my God, Vic, I want you to thrive and I’m going to be here supporting you and I love you so much,’” she recalled.
That moment reinforced that their bond had grown beyond a traditional employer-employee relationship.
Life After Kylie Jenner
Victoria officially stepped away from her role in 2020. At the time, reports suggested she wanted to pursue her own path as an influencer, and she has since built a strong presence online.
Despite the career shift, there’s no bad blood. The two remain close friends, proving that sometimes stepping away is what preserves a relationship rather than ending it.
Following Victoria’s departure, Kylie hired Maguire Amundsen, who has since drawn attention for her own close connection with the beauty mogul and her glamorous lifestyle.
