Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are as in love today as they were 38 years ago on their wedding day – and made sure to mark their anniversary in style!
The celebrity couple went away to celebrate 38 years of marriage — they tied the knot on September 4 1988 — by opting for a canoeing trip.
On September 9, Kyra took to social media to share a series of photos from their ‘perfect’ getaway, including a photo of herself beaming selfie of the pair out on the lake. “Perfect anniversary weekend. Canoe believe it’s been 38 years?!” Kyra wrote alongside the post.
Fans were quick to comment, with one writing: “Amazing picture of you both, enjoy your day,” while another wrote: “You are too cute!” A third person added: “You two are living your best lives.”

Kevin and Kyra had a private wedding ceremony in Conneticut followed by a 300-person reception held at Au Bar, in Manhattan, New York City. The couple got together after working on the set of the PBS version of Lanford Wilson play, Lemon Sky.
On the big day, Kyra looked stunning in a high-necked, long sleeved crocheted wedding dress, which she accessorized with a jewelled brooch fixed with an elegant updo. Kevin, meanwhile, sported a plaid suit with a white shirt and polka dot tie.

Kyra previously told The Post: “Honestly, we just got lucky, there’s no secret, we just got so lucky when we were so young. I was 21 when I met him, 23 when we got married. If someone had told me when I was 21 that I was going to be married and have a kid by 23, I would have told them they were out of their minds because I was very ambitious, I was very independent.
© Instagram“And then suddenly I met this person, and it was like well this was it. And I was so young and so dumb, and I can’t believe I was smart enough to do that,” she said. “No one is smart when they’re 21. We’re just really lucky, and it’s not hard.”

Kevin and Kyra welcomed two children shortly after getting married: son Travis, born in June 1989, followed by daughter Sosie in March 1992.

Kevin and Kyra were behind the concept, suggesting that the family make a movie together. The synopsis reads: “A filmmaking family finds themselves in a real-life horror movie when a body turns up on the set of their low-budget slasher, forcing them to cover up the murder to keep filming.”

“It’s a great movie,” she said, adding that it was “amazing, it was incredible!” to work with her family. “It’s so rare that you get to see your adult children in the world in a work situation,” she remarked, then quipping: “First of all, I can’t believe that they actually said yes, that they wanted to do the movie!”
