Lady Kitty Spencer’s Rose Ball look hides a special artistic meaning behind the glamour

Lady Kitty Spencer once again proved why she remains one of the most captivating figures on the European social circuit, stepping out at one of Monaco’s most anticipated events of the year. The British aristocrat was among the standout guests at the 70th edition of the Rose Ball, held on March 21, 2026, in Monte Carlo.

Presided over by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, the evening embraced a futuristic theme titled “Galaxy Rose Ball,” imagined by creative director Christian Louboutin. Known as the most important charitable event of the Monegasque season, the gala raises funds for the Princess Grace Foundation while bringing together royalty, cultural figures, and international guests.

For the occasion, Spencer delivered a look that blended art, history, and couture craftsmanship. As a global ambassador for Dolce & Gabbana, she wore a piece she described as a masterpiece, a design from the brand’s 2019 collection. 

The structured corset was richly embroidered with coral, crystals, and pearls, creating a sculptural silhouette that emphasized her signature love of classic femininity.

The skirt carried an even deeper artistic reference, featuring intricate needlepoint embroidery inspired by the 1788 neoclassical painting The Loves of Paris and Helen by French artist Jacques-Louis David. 

She completed the ensemble with a coordinating choker and earrings from the same high jewelry line, along with gold embroidered heels and striking red wrist accessories that added a bold finishing touch.

Spencer’s appearance also underscored the fashion identity she has steadily cultivated over the years. Her style is defined by a sense of timeless opulence, rooted in Italian romanticism and a deep appreciation for couture craftsmanship. 

Rather than chasing trends, she consistently gravitates toward pieces that celebrate structure, artistry, and heritage. Her wardrobe often highlights feminine silhouettes, with a focus on defined waists and classic tailoring. Intricate detailing plays a central role, from lace and elaborate embroidery to appliqué florals, ruffles, and crystal embellishments.

She is equally known for embracing bold prints, ranging from florals and playing card motifs to oversized cherubic designs. This aesthetic is closely tied to her connection with Italy, shaped in part by her studies in art history in Florence. 

That influence is evident in her preference for expressive, richly detailed looks that feel both vibrant and authentic. Accessories are equally important in her styling, often elevating even the simplest ensembles through statement Bulgari jewelry or ornate headpieces, such as those she famously chose for her wedding instead of the traditional Spencer tiara.

Over time, Spencer has delivered several memorable fashion moments. She first captured global attention at the 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, where she wore a hand-painted emerald green Dolce & Gabbana dress. 

In 2021, for her wedding to Michael Lewis in Rome, she wore five custom Dolce & Gabbana couture gowns, including a standout Victorian-inspired lace design with puffed sleeves that evoked the elegance of Grace Kelly.

She has also paid subtle tribute to her aunt, Princess Diana, through carefully curated looks that echo some of Diana’s most iconic styles, including beige tailored suits, red satin dresses, and Bardot necklines.

While Dolce & Gabbana remains her primary fashion allegiance, Spencer’s style portfolio also includes designs from Zimmermann, Alberta Ferretti, Ralph Lauren, and Bottega Veneta, further reflecting her ability to move seamlessly between romanticism, modern elegance, and high fashion.
