Although she has no official role within the British royal family, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones has become, over the years, one of those figures who draws interest whenever she appears in public. Granddaughter of Princess Margaret and daughter of David Armstrong-Jones, second Earl of Snowdon, her presence at the most intimate family events, such as the Christmas church services at Sandringham, often offers clear clues about her style, classic, practical, and closely tied to the season. This year, Margarita delivered two consecutive looks worth noting, one on December 25 at the Christmas service alongside the Princess of Wales, and another on Sunday the 28th for the church service.

Christmas at Sandringham: green cape and burgundy beret

On Christmas Day, Lady Margarita attended the traditional church service at St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate, accompanied by her father and her brother, Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley. Every year, the Windsor family gathers to greet members of the public on the woodland walk to the church, one of the most symbolic moments in the royal calendar.

For the occasion, Margarita chose a look perfectly suited to the cold and the solemn tone of the event. The main piece was a green wool cape, which is a color that is often associated with winter and British tradition. It was held together with a gold brooch that gave it shape and a touch of class. A gray turtleneck sweater was visible under the cape. She wore a dark midi skirt, black gloves, and knee-high leather boots with a heel.

Sunday the 28th: checked coat and a nod to Kate Middleton

Three days later, on Sunday, December 28, Lady Margarita was seen again at Sandringham for the Sunday church service, this time wearing a different outfit that still felt consistent with her previous look. She chose a black and brown checked coat, which subtly echoed the color palette of the checked coat worn by Kate Middleton on Christmas Day.

Between both looks, she again opted for black gloves and knee-high leather boots with a heel, showing a clear preference for clean silhouettes and practical accessories. The coat, with its classic cut, was perfectly suited to the setting, a restrained religious service in cold weather.

Key figures were also present that day, including King Charles III, Princess Anne and her husband Sir Tim Laurence, as well as the Earl of Snowdon, Margarita’s father. The absence, once again, of the former Prince Andrew stood out, highlighting the internal tensions that continue to simmer within the family.

Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones represents a less visible but genuinely intriguing branch of the British royal family. She has witnessed historic moments, from state funerals to coronations, but always from a secondary, low-key position. Her style clearly draws on her family heritage, reflecting the sophistication of her grandmother, Princess Margaret, and the creativity that is characteristic of the Snowdon line.
