The head of Albania’s former royal dynasty has officially begun wedding preparations with photographer Blerta Celibashi, 27. The couple got engaged last October, confirming the news in an official statement. Blerta is a photographer who specializes in wedding photography, an exciting development that leaves her own wedding’s photography in her own capable hands.
After making their first official appearance together a year earlier, the pair celebrated their engagement privately in the coastal town of Ksamil. Now, new details about their royal wedding are emerging.
A 2026 Royal Wedding in Albania
In an interview with Euronews, Prince Leka confirmed that the wedding will take place in 2026 in Albania. The couple, who live in a quiet neighborhood in Tirana, are balancing their professional commitments with planning what is expected to be a major royal gathering, which may potentially be attended by members of several European royal houses, including Spain’s, with whom Leka has longstanding ties.
“We’re working on the preparations… working on ideas. What I can say is that Blerta and I are very happy,” he shared, keeping further details private.

Leka’s daughter, Princess Geraldine of Albania, born in October 2020, is expected to play an important role in the ceremony. She was named after her great-grandmother, Queen Geraldine of Albania, also known as the nation’s Queen Mother, who passed away in 2002.
