Leonardo DiCaprio is usually snapped out with friends, or his girlfriend Vittoria Cerrati, but this week, he had a wholesome moment with family. On Tuesday night, the One Battle After Another star was spotted arriving at Funke in Beverly Hills in matching blue looks alongside his father, George DiCaprio.
They were snapped entering the restaurant for a private party, and the image is a reminder that DiCaprio was once someone’s little boy. Leo kept things low-key in a navy jacket and black LA Dodgers baseball cap, while George walked beside him with a blue sports coat over a white shirt and gray slacks. His long white hair flowed loosely, with his red glasses framing his face.
© Backgrid/The Grosby GroupOver the years, the 51-year-old has spoken candidly about the influence his father has had on his life, both personally and creatively. “My father, he’s kind of the ultimate source of wisdom for me, and not just his intelligence, but his perception and his ability to look at a certain subject matter through different lenses,” he told Den of Geek in September 2025. “I oftentimes still read scripts with him and ask him his thoughts, because he’s got such a unique perspective.”

I was a break dancer, and I had a messed-up haircut, and all the agents rejected me. And [he gave me] that reinforcement of ‘you’re going to have your time,'” he recalled.
© GettyHis dad was also a guide to “real filmmaking.” He would take him to see actors and films and say, “This is what the art form is all about. And those are great actors. Watch this stuff.”
George, a comic book writer, publisher, editor, producer, and longtime fixture in LA’s underground arts scene, raised Leo with an unconventional philosophy. “Go out there,” Leo has recalled his dad telling him, “and whatever you do, I don’t care if you’re successful or not—just have an interesting life.”
While his dad didn’t care what Leo did, he did put his foot down when it came to one thing. Early in his career, an agent suggested he change his name to something “more marketable” – “Lenny Williams.” They said DiCaprio was “too ethnic.” But George shut it down immediately.
He told Jason and Travis Kelce on their “New Heights” podcast that when his dad saw his headshot with the new name written on it, he ripped it up, declaring, “Over my dead body.”
