Lily Collins is celebrating a very meaningful reunion — with the engagement ring she thought was gone for good.
The Emily in Paris star, 36, shared some exciting news with fans on March 6, revealing on her Instagram Stories that the diamond ring that was stolen from her three years ago has finally made its way back to her. Collins said she was left “speechless” after Hakimian Imports Chicago Jewelers managed to recover the original rose-cut diamond ring and return it to her.
Alongside a selfie showing off the sparkler back where it belongs, she wrote, “Having this home means SO much to us.”
She added, “I’m still speechless it’s back on my finger.”
The ring had been missing since May 6, 2023, when Collins’ engagement ring, wedding band, and several other personal items were taken during a burglary at a West Hollywood hotel.
At the time, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department confirmed to People that deputies responded to a burglary call at the Edition Hotel on Sunset Boulevard after a well-known female celebrity reported items stolen from a secured locker.
Sources told People that Collins had been staying at the hotel and left her belongings locked up while visiting the spa. When she returned, the items had disappeared. Authorities categorized the stolen property as totaling “over $10,000.”
Collins got engaged to filmmaker Charlie McDowell — the son of actress Mary Steenburgen and actor Malcolm McDowell — in September 2020. The couple shared the big moment on Instagram at the time, posting photos from the proposal along with a close-up of the ring.
During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan shortly afterward, Collins admitted the proposal caught her completely off guard.
She said she “was very surprised by” the custom Irene Neuwirth-designed ring, adding, “But it’s exactly what I would’ve wanted and he knew me so well, obviously.”
The couple tied the knot on September 4, 2021, in Dunton, Colorado.
Collins later reflected on the moment in an Instagram post alongside a photo of the pair sharing a kiss at the altar.
“I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife,” she wrote.
For the wedding, Collins wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown that she described as a “magical” look blending “a combination of Western Americana and British Victorian.” The dress took nearly 200 hours to handcraft and featured intricate lace, silk organza petals and Swarovski-beaded flowers. She paired the gown with a dramatic hooded cape that flowed all the way to the floor.
