Nearly one year after it was first reported that Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were living apart, the Full House star has made it official, filing for divorce. The news comes as she returned to Instagram, 7 years after the infamous college admission scandal. All signs point to a new, exciting, single era for the 62-year-old.
According to Page Six, Loughlin filed the paperwork on September 4th, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple signed a prenup in October 1997 before they got married in November 1997, but according to the outlet, the agreement was amended on Aug. 11, 2015, 5 years before the infamous college admission scandal.

The couple purchased an 11,800-square-foot Hidden Hills mansion in August 2020 for $9.5 million, months after the scandal, and sold it for $12M late in 2025.
© GettyShe reportedly asked that Giannulli cover her attorney fees and costs, and requested that spousal support be determined at a later date. Loughlin also requested that properties, assets, and debts be split according to their prenup.
The significance of the date of her IG return
Loughlin listed the date of separation as Aug. 31, 2025. Interestingly enough, that’s also the same day she returned to Instagram a year later. She made her big return with the help of her “Full House” co-stars like John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Scott Weinger, Andrea Barber, Dave Coulier, and the late Bob Saget, captioning the video “Wake up, San Francisco! I’m back on IG.”
News first broke that they were separated on October 2, 2025. “They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage,” Loughlin’s representative, Elizabeth Much, told the outlet at the time.
© GettyA few months later, in January 2026, an insider told Page Six she found “incriminating” text messages on his phone after they served time in prison. It was reportedly the “tipping point.” The source said Giannulli “used Lori for years,” and she was “hoping maybe he would change when he got out of prison, but he got worse.”
© GettyEven Stamos had things to say about the situation, saying on the Good Guys podcast, Loughlin “put up with a lot over the year” with him. “She’s just devastated. For a girl who has lived her life really well, a good person, a good mother, a good wife — I know all this for a fact — to be thrown into now this separation and, you know, exploding, blowing up her family this way,” he said. “I just hate to see her go through this. I really do.”
Their love story
© GettyThe estranged couple’s love story wasn’t always full of white-collar crime and jail time. Their love story began when they first met in 1995, and two years later, the duo eloped just two days before Thanksgiving on November 27, 1997.
“We had Moss’ best friend and a minister meet us, and we got married at sunrise, and then we went to Thanksgiving dinner, and we told everybody,” The Rad star told Entertainment Tonight in 2018. “We had talked about doing a wedding, and we just thought, ‘Let’s get up and let’s go do it.’”
They quickly started a family, welcoming the future stars at the center of the college admission scandals, daughters Isabella in September 1998 and Olivia Jade a year later.
The mother of 2 often gushed about her husband, calling him “my guy, my person” in 2018, and noting that their relationship thrived on communication, flexibility, and picking their battles wisely.
