Lucia Hawley, daughter of Antonia Kidman and niece of Hollywood star Nicole Kidman, is navigating the uncertainty of unemployment after taking what she describes as a “totally stupid decision” to move from Australia to London.

After stepping down from her role as host of Australia’s “7Bravo,” the 26-year-old has launched a blog documenting the emotional and professional issues of her relocation.

“On paper, this is a totally stupid decision, and honestly, frightens me,” she confessed. “Someone hire me pls.” She shared her thoughts and fears about the big move. “I am risk-averse, which means my body quite literally rejects the idea of both moving overseas and being unemployed.”

Hawley decided to take the plunge anyway, chasing what she hopes will be a better path forward. The move wasn’t just logistically challenging, as it came with personal heartbreak. Hawley described saying goodbye to her longtime boyfriend, Henry, as “traumatic.”

She admitted, “Saying goodbye to Henry was incredibly difficult (I am traumatised by airport goodbyes). Even harder were the goodbyes to my family — I kissed my little brothers through floods of tears.”

Hawley, who previously studied arts at the University of Sydney and interned with Vogue Australia, started her career working behind the scenes at a production company. She eventually landed a job at 9Honey before being tapped by NBCUniversal to host 7Bravo in 2022.

Her departure paved the way for reality star Bella Varelis, best known as a runner-up on “The Bachelor,” to take over as host. In her blog, Hawley acknowledged that the past six months had been professionally rough, leaving her feeling “directionless” and demoralized.

“This period was pretty taxing on my confidence, and I eventually began to feel like there was just simply not much left for me in Sydney (at least for now),” she wrote.

Hawley credited her boyfriend’s constant support and belief in her as a major source of strength. “Sometimes I am left baffled by his unwavering support and blind belief in me, championing everything I do. This kind of love — true, safe love — makes you feel like you can do anything.”

She also pointed to her close-knit family, with whom she recently vacationed in Croatia, as her emotional anchor. Sharing photos from the trip on Instagram, including one with Kidman and her mother Antonia dressed in white, she captioned the post, “Griswalds on tour.”

“I believe home to be a feeling,” she wrote. “Having a strong network of people who support you is what truly enables you to navigate the world with confidence and self-assurance.”
