Nearly two months ago, María Becerra went through a life-threatening health crisis. The Argentine singer was hospitalized urgently after suffering severe bleeding caused by a second ectopic pregnancy, forcing her to cancel all professional commitments. Fortunately, she pulled through and is currently recovering. Recently, she revealed she’s now undergoing vocal rehabilitation, as the ordeal had significantly impacted various parts of her body.
María shared an update on her condition through a series of Instagram stories. “Happy to be slowly regaining my muscle mass,” she wrote, posting a mirror selfie. “I also wanted to share that I’m really happy because I’m doing vocal rehab,” she added, highlighting the support from her vocal coach.
“Obviously, after everything I went through, my body took a huge hit,” María said, visibly emotional. “My vocal cords, my larynx, my lungs—everything. So we’re working on rehabbing all of that,” she added. “As you know, I was also intubated, and for a singer, intubation is very tricky… So now I’m regaining my lung capacity,” she said.
The “Entre Nosotros” singer expressed joy over her progress: “The intensive lessons are paying off because it’s all done with love and patience. Just as I’m rehabbing my body, I’m also rehabbing my voice,” she said. “Soon, I’ll have the lung capacity to be able to get up on stage and do a two-hour show, dancing, jumping…”
Reflecting on her April ordeal, María shared the key factors that helped her pull through. “What saved me was getting there in time. Then the incredible healthcare team at the clinic saved me with their fast and impeccable work. They saved my life. And what also saved me was being a healthy person,” she emphasized, encouraging her followers to take care of their health and habits.
“Imagine, with all the blood I lost, I could’ve shown up severely anemic, but I didn’t because I take care of myself—I get checkups whenever I can, I monitor my blood work, I’m proactive about avoiding anemia, even though I’ve struggled with it before,” she added. In another moment, she shared, “I have three liters of blood in my body. I lost more than half. They had to do a transfusion.”
María Becerra Says She Feels Like She Was Born Again
In her message, María expressed deep gratitude for this second chance at life and again urged her followers to take care of themselves. “Take care of yourselves. When something like this happens, you really feel like, ‘I was born again.’ Now I understand people who’ve gone through a tragedy or an accident, who were close to death or technically died and came back,” she continued.
“Now I get what it means when people say, ‘That was the day I was reborn.’ It’s intense—really intense—how it changes your mindset, how much you learn and understand after going through something like this. It’s absolutely wild, and more than anything, it makes you so much more aware,” she acknowledged.
