Mark Hamill enjoyed a special red carpet moment as he stepped out with his daughter Chelsea at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Hollywood, with the pair posing arm-in-arm for photographers against the signature blue backdrop.
Chelsea looked radiant in a silky ivory gown with delicate lace detailing along the neckline, the elegant dress skimming her figure and falling to the floor with understated glamour
She styled the look simply, opting for classic black heels, a soft bob hairstyle and minimal jewellery, letting the timeless dress take centre stage. Draped casually over her arm was a black shawl, adding an effortless, relaxed touch to the polished ensemble.
Proud dad Mark Hamill cut a dapper figure beside her in a deep green suit, paired with a navy shirt and coordinating tie. The actor appeared relaxed and happy as he leaned in close to Chelsea, the pair sharing warm smiles that spoke volumes about their close bond.
While it’s unclear what Chelsea does for a living, according to ABC News, she works as her father’s assistant and accompanies him to several events and premieres, most recently the BAFTA Film Awards in February 2025.
“It’s fun to be together like this,” she told the publication of attending events with her father. “As you get older, you start treasuring the times you get to spend with family.”
She posted a tribute to her dad for Father’s Day on June 15, writing: “Having you in my life is one of my greatest blessings, and I feel endlessly grateful and proud to call you my father.”
Chelsea was born in 1984 to Mark and Marilou York. She was the first of three children, soon joined by brothers Nathan and Griffin.
While her father became synonymous with Luke Skywalker and Jedi heroics, Chelsea charted her own path away from the cameras. She earned a degree in architecture from the University of California at Berkeley before returning to her artistic roots with training at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Her brief appearance in The Last Jedi proved a moment of pride for the Hamill family and delighted fans who recognized her name in the credits. As Resistance pilot Koo Millham she exchanges a few lines before leading an X‑wing squadron into battle. It was enough to cement her place in Star Wars lore and inspire the exclusive action figure her father now holds up in that Instagram photo.
In a 2018 interview he told Entertainment Weekly that watching Chelsea in costume on set was “one of the proudest moments of my life.”
Followers immediately rallied around the post. People magazine cited his tribute and noted that Chelsea’s action figure is already a collector’s gem among Star Wars enthusiasts.
Over the years, Hamill has spoken often about the importance of family. In a 2015 feature with The Guardian he described home life under the roof of his Malibu house as “full of laughter, pets and very ordinary chaos.” He credited Marilou with keeping the children grounded. “She is the real power behind our little Skywalker clan,” he said.
