Meet Raquel Welch’s two children who both became actors

Tahnee Welch is the youngest child and only daughter of actress and model Raquel Welch. Latanne Welch, or Tahnee as she is commonly known, was born in 1961 in San Diego. She, like her brother Damon, appeared alongside her mother in The Beloved in 1971. 

The Sun US reports that she left school at 16, getting cast in several Italian movie roles before breaking into larger US features. The former actress dated Jared Harris, known for roles in The Crown and Mad Men, between 1991 and 1996 but never married.

Tahnee is best known for her role as Kitty in the 1985 sci-fi comedy Cocoon, which follows a group of seniors who swim in a pool of revitalising alien cocoons, and its 1988 sequel Cocoon: The Return. She has modelled for publications including Vogue, Italian Vogue, British GQ and was featured on the cover of Playboy, according to The Sun US.

Stepping away from fantasy in 1996, Tahnee took on the role of Viva in I Shot Andy Warhol. The feature followed the events leading up to the artist’s attempted assassination, exploring the story of Valerie Solanas, who wrote a screenplay hoping Andy Warhol would agree to produce it but, after he continually ignored her, attempted to kill the 1960s pop artist.

Tahnee’s older brother Damon James Welch was born in San Diego in 1959. Like his sister and mother, he pursued a career in entertainment. But while they were all comfortable in front of the lens, Damon also stepped back behind it taking on a producer role. 

The actor and producer was previously married to Rebecca Trueman, daughter of cricket legend Fred Trueman. The pair married in June 1991 and divorced two years later in 1993.

Damon Welch worked as part of the production crew on J-Men Forever, a 1979 spoof feature that used clips from Republic Pictures serials to tell the tale of a villain attempting to take over the world. He also worked on productions associated with his mother, such as Raquel: Total Beauty and Fitness and I Am Raquel Welch, the latter of which he was credited on as the executive producer.

Like his sister, Damon had an uncredited acting role in 1971’s The Beloved, in which his mother starred.
