After nearly 25 years off the air, those familiar red swimsuits are returning to the beaches of California. FOX’s new Baywatch reboot is officially in production!
The original Baywatch series, led by David Hasselhoff and also starring Pamela Anderson, Nicole Eggert, Yasmine Bleeth, and more in a rotating ensemble format, was a cultural juggernaut when it aired, first on NBC for a single season in 1989-90, then on syndication until May of 2001.
While there have been spin-off versions and even a 2017 film adaptation (starring Dwane Johnson and Zac Efron), this is the show’s first official return to the airwaves since the aughts.
The Baywatch reboot will arrive as part of the 2026-27 TV season (an official release date has not yet been announced) as part of the network’s 12 episode order.
Here’s who you’ll be seeing running down the beach later this year, from the one lead returning from the original to the social media stars making their screen debuts…
Stephen Amell, 44, will play an adult Hobie Buchannon, reprising the character played by Brandon Call in the original show’s first season. Hobie is now following in his father Mitch’s (David Hasselhoff) footsteps as the new Baywatch captain. The Canadian actor’s career began with shows like Queer as Folk, The Vampire Diaries, Hung and Private Practice.
In 2012, he was cast as Oliver Queen in Arrow, a role that he played until 2020 and that followed him into TV’s extensive “Arrowverse.” Since his long run as Oliver, he’s led short-lived shows like Heels and Suits LA, as well as the movies Code 8 and its sequel Code 8: Part II with his cousin Robbie Amell. Since 2012, he has been married to beauty pageant titleholder and America’s Next Top Model alum Cassandra Jean, sharing two children.
David Chokachi, 58, is the only star so far set to reprise his role from the original, playing Cody Madison as the frontman for The Shoreline, Baywatch’s resident bar. David made his acting debut with Baywatch back in 1995, staying with the show until 1999. He then joined the Witchblade franchise, playing Detective Jake McCartey in both the 2000 pilot film, and its two-season TV run soon after.
He played Justin Healy in the surfing drama Beyond the Break from 2006 to 2009, then appearing in a variety of B-movies and made-for-TV projects over the years, his latest being the 2025 film Predator: Wastelands. Since 2004, he has been married to Susan Brubaker, sharing one child with her.
Jessica Belkin, 23, plays Charlie Vale, the daughter Hobie never knew he had who reunites with him to become a Baywatch lifeguard like her father and grandfather. The actress and musician made her screen debut in 2010, then appearing in a variety of shows like The Neighbors, American Horror Story, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, and Just Add Magic as a child star before transitioning into roles as an adult.
Beyond Baywatch, Jessica has appeared in Netflix’s Hunting Wives and is currently working on Dutton Ranch and the Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, in which she plays the character of Madison.
Thaddeus LaGrone will play Brad, a former marine who joins the Baywatch crew and learns to work more capably with a whole team of lifeguards. Not much is known about Thaddeus’ life before the show, he is a musician and former football player with the Oklahoma Sooners who is now making his acting debut. His other credits include the Hulu series The Land and the film Mr. Irrelevant.
Hassie Harrison, 36, will play Nat, a former Olympian-turned-lifeguard who sets the standard for her profession. A descendant of the Hunt family, one of the wealthiest in the country, Hassie found herself out of the family business and in acting with her 2014 screen debut in the show Hart of Dixie.
Her most notable credits since then include a recurring turn on Yellowstone and playing Lucy McConky on Tacoma FD for its run from 2019 to 2024. Since 2023, she has been married to musician Ryan Bingham.
Noah Beck, 24, will play Luke, a rookie lifeguard who deviated from his family’s firefighting path. First finding his calling in football, Noah then started posting on TikTok in 2020, quickly going viral. He is now one of the social media platform’s leading influencers, boasting over 33 million followers and 2.6 billion likes. He made his acting debut with the 2024 Tubi rom-com Sidelined: The QB and Me, also starring in its 2025 sequel.
Brooks Nader, 29, will play Selene, the captain of the Zuma Beach Lifeguards who has a bit of a rivalry going with Stephen’s Hobie. After making a small appearance in the 2018 film Backtrace, Brooks rose to fame for winning a 2019 Swim Search competition and appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue.
She then appeared on the cover in 2023, and soon after joined Dancing with the Stars’ 33rd season, ending in 9th place. She and her sisters then starred in their own reality show, Love Thy Nader, which debuted on Hulu in late 2025.
Shay Mitchell, 38, will play Trina, a former lawyer who decided to embrace her true passion — lifeguarding. Shay broke into the mainstream with her starring turn as Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars from 2010 to 2017, then earning notices for shows like You, Dollface and Trese, as well as executive producing FOX’s The Cleaning Lady.
Shay is also best known as a style and beauty icon, as well as for her entrepreneurial work, the founder of the travel brand BÉIS, the production company Amore & Vita Inc, and the tequila brand Onda. She shares two children with Matte Babel, her partner since 2017.
Livvy Dunne, 23, will play Grace, the perky junior lifeguard of the bunch. Livvy’s career began in gymnastics, making her mark as a junior artistic gymnast before joining the LSU Tigers women’s gymnastics team, culminating with a gold for the team in the 2024 NCAA Championship. She retired from the sport in 2025, especially as her profile on TikTok blew up (she now has nearly eight million followers). She also appeared on the cover of SI’s Swimsuit Issue in 2025.
