Xavier Trudeau has the support of one of the world’s biggest pop stars. The 18-year-old son of the former Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, is not interested in pursuing politics. He wants to be a musician and has shared some original music under the stage name XAV.
In a video shared earlier this week, Xavier shared his dad’s and Katy Perry’s reaction to discovering the song being played in a hardware store in Montreal, Canada. The clip shows the couple dancing along to the song, jumping around as they hold on to different items.
“In the home hardware, on St. Laurent street,” says Trudeau in the clip, wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, sneakers and some sunglasses.
He begins dancing along to the clip, holding on to a plunger.
Xavier hoped his followers would draw some inspiration from his dad, writing: “TAG ME IN YOUR REACTION VIDEOS IM REPOSTING.”

Xavier is the oldest of Trudeau’s three children with Sophie Grégoire. He’s the elder brother of Hadrien and Ella-Grace.
Through the years, Xavier was featured on his dad’s social media channels, joining him on trips as he served as Prime Minister. In 2023, the two were featured in a memorable photo wearing pink T-shirts to attend the premiere of “Barbie.” “We’re team Barbie,” Trudeau captioned the post.
Xavier launched his career as a musician in 2025 under the stage name XAV. Over the past couple of years, he’s released three singles within the R&B genre. He’s signed to the Ottawa-based record label Pathway Music Group.

“Building a new name for myself and being my own man was a super important thing because people knew me as Trudeau’s kid and that’s slowly changing. I want to be known as Xav,” he said in an interview with GQ.
In that same interview, he discussed his experiences as a model. “Music was the thing that got me into modeling just because it’s a good parallel to have. If you’re doing shoots for these brands, it’s just more of your face out there. It’s more credibility. It will indirectly help your music. It helped me push my brand as a person, as Xav.”
