Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently enjoyed a trip to the UK, where they visited Princess Diana’s childhood home Althorp House, and a private Scottish island.

The Duchess of Sussex shared a series of photographs from the couple’s “summer holidays” in July, offering a glimpse into a happy family vacation spent in various locations around the UK, Europe, and their home in the US.

It was revealed last week that part of the couple’s trip included visiting Tanera Mor, a remote, privately owned island in Scotland in the Inner Hebrides.

Though the pitstop was supposed to remain extremely private, it’s now thought that Meghan accidentally exposed herself in her latest summer Instagram post.

Among the 12 photos of Harry and the children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lillibet, five, enjoying the beach and the Northamptonshire countryside, Meghan also shared a picture of a beautiful lake situated behind grassy sloping hills.

According to the Mail on Sunday, this photograph was taken next to Loch Droma on the A835 Inverness to Ullapool road, which is 25 miles from Tanera Mor.

Two day trip with boat trip

There, they spent two days on the largest of the Summer Isles, the outlet reported. The family are believed to have soaked up the secluded atmosphere, beautiful nature, and even taken a boat trip around its coastline aboard Rita, a vintage Clyde puffer.

It’s believed that the owner of the island, hedge-fund tycoon Ian Wace, 63, has spent “a fortune” renovating roads and several old buildings since purchasing it in 2017.

Ian, who is friends with both Harry and his brother, Prince William, purchased the island for £1.7 million, and is believed to have invested a further £600 million into improving local facilities and making it a private haven for visitors.

Speaking to the outlet, a local from the neighbouring village said there had been rumours of Harry having visited before. People were suspicious of visitors since workers were “told to go away for a few days, while [Mr Wace] has guests who want privacy.”

Another said that electric bikes had been discovered, which is apparently common when visitors are around. The source claimed the Sussexes must have arrived via Ullapool “on the fast boat” as they didn’t pass through the village of Achiltibuie.

Ultra-private stay

The island, which is said to have inspired the 1973 horror film, The Wicker Man, is fiercely guarded by Ian, who goes to great lengths to protect the privacy of his guests.

Despite his best efforts, it seems Meghan’s post exposed the “secret” family holiday. It is believed that they arrived on 8 July, the day after Harry lost his High Court privacy case with the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday.

The only way to reach the island is via jetties, which are owned by Ian and require permission to use. Harry and Meghan likely stayed on either the North or the South end of the island, where there is the most privacy.
