Season 2 of With Love, Meghan won’t be the Sussexes’ last project with Netflix! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s production company Archewell Productions has extended its creative partnership with the streamer with a multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects.
“We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand. My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision,” Meghan Markle said.
The Duke and Duchess signed a multi-year deal with Netflix back in 2020, and released their first series, Harry & Meghan, in 2022.
Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, called Prince Harry and Meghan “influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere.” Bela said, “The response to their work speaks for itself — Harry & Meghan gave viewers an intimate look into their lives and quickly became one of our most-watched documentary series. More recently, fans have been inspired by With Love, Meghan, with products from the new As ever line consistently selling out in record time. We’re excited to continue our partnership with Archewell Productions and to entertain our members together.”
In addition to the return of With Love, Meghan later this month and a special holiday episode titled With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration in December, plus a new documentary-short film, Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within, scheduled to be released later this year, Archewell Productions is in “active development” on more projects with Netflix that are said to “span a variety of content genres.” One of those projects includes the movie adaptation of Carley Fortune‘s novel Meet Me at the Lake. The romantic drama will follow “a decade-spanning love story that begins with a chance encounter and a broken promise,” according to Archewell Productions.
It was reported in 2023 that Meghan and Harry had purchased the screen rights to the book. In August of 2023, the author wrote on Instagram, “I never thought I’d be making this announcement, but since I am, it feels fitting that I’m doing it from the cottage where it all began. I’m thrilled to confirm that I’m teaming up with Netflix and Archewell productions on the adaption of Meet Me at the Lake. Will and Fern’s love story is dear to my heart, and I can’t imagine a more perfect partnership. Writing this book was a tremendous personal challenge, and to see it recognized in this way is truly incredible.”
Apart from new projects, it was revealed on Aug. 11 that Meghan’s lifestyle brand As ever, which was developed in partnership with Netflix, will continue expanding into new product categories.
