Melanie Brown is reminiscing about the long-term support of her Spice Girls ladies. On Saturday, the singer, 50, took a trip down memory lane to 1999 when she walked alongside supermodel Kate Moss for Welsh designer Julien Macdonald’s spring/summer 2000 show during London Fashion Week – and her bandmates were right there in the front row to support her loudly and proudly.
Mel B looked back on her runway moment from 27 years ago with throwback photos from the show, for which she wore a gorgeous pink embellished dress with a transparent sheen and a thigh-high split. As she strutted her way down the catwalk, her bandmates Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm cheered her on excitedly from the audience. The fashion show came more than a year after Geri Halliwell’s exit from the band in May 1998, which explains why the singer was absent.
The 50-year-old shared pictures of her three bandmates applauding from the front row, and another of them all together backstage with designer Julien. The Spice Girls were all dressed to nineties perfection for the occasion: Victoria looked effortlessly stylish in a silky black top, while Emma opted for a leather jacket and choker, and Mel C wore a lacy camisole top.
Remembering the day ahead of Julien’s return to London Fashion Week in 2026 for the first time in three years, Mel B wrote: “It was sooo much fun walking his catwalk and my girls there watching……. What a day!!!”
“And good luck for your show today Julien. It will be amazing …. You are soooooo talented,” she added. In the comments, Emma praised her bandmate all these years later as a “catwalk goddess”.
Spice Girls were ‘roaring and yelling’ in support
Mel B recalled the Spice Girls were all “roaring and yelling” from the front row in a recent interview with British Vogue. “Geri had already left the band by then, but the other girls didn’t hold anything back!” she added. “I don’t remember the soundtrack at all, all I could hear was cheering and the sounds of cameras clicking.”
The singer revealed she still has photos from the London Fashion Week show on the landing wall in her home. “I have a collage from all different angles, photographs from the perspective of the audience, backstage… they really capture the atmosphere and hysteria from that day.”
Julien’s return to London Fashion Week
After a three-year hiatus, Julien returned to London Fashion Week in 2026 with a glamorous show at The Shard on 21 February. The designer’s catwalk collection featured glittering gowns and metallic hues, with several stars spotted in the audience.
Princess Margaret’s son, David Armstrong-Jones, made a surprise appearance at the show on Saturday night alongside his partner Isabelle de la Bruyère. Other attendees included fashion designer and former model Melissa Odabash, Love Island alum Montana Brown, and singer Katherine Jenkins.
